I've play 7 hours of the multiplayer and 2 hours of the story. AC brotherhood is 100% the most fun I've had playing a game this year.
The multiplayer is like Team Fortress 2 but everyone is the Spy, and it's amazing. I can't tell you the immense sense of satisfaction you get from fooling a real person. You just walk over to your unsuspecting human player target and stab him, it's orgasmic. Dieing is the same way. You don't get mad when someone kills you, I was like "dude that was awesome, how he got me." There is no game that came out this year that is as good as this one. And Trust me I've played every game this year.
Here is a list of all the games I bought in the last two month alone.
Nier, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock , Dead Rising 2
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow , Vanquish
NARUTO SHIPPUDEN: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, EA SPORTS MMA , Fallout New Vegas
WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011, Rock Band 3, Star Wars The Force Unleashed II
Fist of the North Star, Assassins Creed: Brotherhood
Also a bunch of non-noteworthy WII games
I said those were the games I bought in the last two months. There are shit loads more I bought like Darksiders and what not.
Red Dead came out in the summer I also got lost planet 2 and Alpha Protocol the same month.
I beat Red Dead remember enjoying it, I have almost all the trophies in it. But can't tell you a damn thing about it tho. I found it pretty forgettable apparently.
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is GOTY no contest.

I've had the game all day, sitting right here all wrapped. I just can't bring myself to open it and start playing. I just don't think I care enough about Assassin's Creed and the boring and monotonous "press A and run up a building and fly across roof tops" mechanic. I never actually cared to much for that, to be honest (seriously, why would you run across roofs all the time? It's not easier and there's nothing about being an assassin that would particularly necessitate it). I only tolerate it, because I was sort of following along with the story.
I still care about the story and that's why I'll play Assassin's Creed III. I just don't know that I need a single second more of god damned Ezio.
I can see how it might be the best game you have PLAYED this year, though. That list is pretty . . . unappealing (save for the few exceptions). I mean, serious, even at it's most repetitious and aggravatingly droll, I would rather play AC than a wrestling game or a Naruto game. Hell, where's Red Dead?!

I really don't care if it's your game of the year. That's not a bad thing, good for you. Have a party.

Well, you provided the list as a sort of comparison as to why you thought AC was game of the year, so that's what we had to go off of.
If you love it, that's awesome. But . . . seriously, I am fearing that it's just more AC and I need a hell of a lot more than running across roof tops to excite me. That I keep hearing people saying positive things about it does give me hope -- just not enough to actually play it, just yet. The multi-player is starting to sound a little more like "holy shit" and less "why'd they even bother" than I was expecting . . . I wonder how long the community for that will last. That is, will there only be five people online two months from now or does it have legs?
Man, I can not wait to get this game. I loved the first and second so much, and the multiplayer sounds so satisfying. Too bad I'll probably have to wait 'till Christmas. My wallet is run dry from all the damn games that came out this year.

Regardless, and OT, my personal GOTY is Mass Effect 2, and odds are I will not play ACB this year at all, since I want to wait till it comes out on PC instead of getting it for PS3. Sounds like a good game though. Singleplayer is more my style though, even if the MP is really awesome.
" @AlisterCat said:There is no stick, but there is also no 'official' game of the year. It'll just be yours. So far it's
1. Mass Effect 2,
2. Heavy Rain
3. Bad Company 2
for me.
" I'm gonna let you finish but RDR is definitely game of the year. "I see what you did there.
" I am yet to try it AC:B and I think I will love it, but I think that RDR has me sold on GOTY. Although Mass Effect 2 is close. "I thought Red Dead was totally forgettable
" Is there a hardcore-type game mode, with no radars or on-screen icons? "If they still have the same options from the first, you can turn a lot of that stuff off. I know for a fact you can be hud-less, but I'm not sure about turning off the icons on other NCPs.

I don't know how you find it forgettable to be honest. The ending is one of the best ever in my opinion. And while the gameplay had some problems, it was a pretty solid experience the whole way through. Honestly though, it wouldn't have been nearly as good if it wasn't for the characters and the story.
Probably because I play so many games." @trophyhunter said:

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is MY GOTY no contest.
Fixed that up for ya. ;)*Edit* MY GOTY is Red Dead Redemption, by the way.
I played the beta for PSN Plus customers and it was really awesome. I have never even played the other two game and I am thinking about buying this game. The multiplayer was really good. I have forgotten what playing a multiplayer game is like when there is no username over the characters head. It is really cool to get back to basics, but not in a dumbed down way.
Also, I really want to play Enslaved. I played the demo, and while it was pretty linear and straight forward it was also beautiful and the story seemed pretty interesting. Let me know what you think about it.
I thought Mass Effect 2 was my GOTY year until I played Red Dead Redemption. I'm sure Brotherhood is awesome, but I think I'll stick with Red Dead as my #1.
Having broken down and played it a bit this evening, I have to say that the multiplayer actually is a fairly innovative idea. I still have absolutely no interested in more Ezio, but as soon as the matchmaking stops taking 20 minutes to find a game each time, I'll probably play it quite a bit more. I definitely would want to see where they develop this idea, but I still don't think it measures up to all the other amazing stuff from 2010. It might definitely make for "surprise hit" of 2010, though. I can definitely see how people find the single player compelling, amidst all the other unoriginal multiplayer that's available these days.
