Have you ever had a roommate or girlfriend walk in right as you were getting to the end of a game? I'm not talking about the last couple minutes, but the absolute last cutscene which wraps everything up. This happened to me recently while finishing Mass Effect 2, when my roommate came home from work. Because our TV is in the living room, I began asking him how his day was and blah blah blah, ALL WHILE THE LAST CUTSCENE WAS PLAYING. I couldn't press start because that would just skip everything entirely, so instead I was chatting away while my Shepard was onscreen saving the galaxy. This drives me nuts and I feel like it's happened to me a number of times, also recently while playing Bioshock 2. So, I was just wondering if this is just a case of bad luck or if this is something that happens to you guys too.
Being interrupted during the ending of a game.
sounds like your fault. its a roomate they can deal with a few minutes of shut up time so u can see something u spent umpteen hours to complete. if it had been a girlfriend i woulda just said to go make me a sandwich.
You begang asking him how his day was?
Then you're the idiot! :P You should have just kept your damn mouth shut and watched it and then given a damn about Mr. random-person-coming-home
" Doesn't the Home button freeze everything on the PS3 and X360? "On the PS3 - newer games yeah, but games based on older, pre ingame xmb firmware often just keep on going about their business under the xmb, which can sometimes lead to Bad Things happening.
I think if you hold down the PS button until the old school black and white menu pops up you'll be fine on any game though.
A girlfriend of mine was making jokes about and during the beautiful SotC ending...
She didn't understand why I was not happy with her.
I would have invited him/her to watch the final cut scene and then talk to them once it was over, either way they'd know you're watching an ending cutscene.
Its gotten to the point if I feel like a game is going to have a lot of cut scenes I'll wait till she goes to bed or leaves the room. Its madness the things I have to do to pay attention to cut scenes, they should make the start button pause them and make the back button skip them or something like that it should be in every game the same way so you don't screw it up to.
It really shouldn't happen with a roommate. Explain to your roommate the concept of video games cinemas and how they often can't interrupted. It should only happen with people that really don't play video games. When I was a kid and my mom used to interrupt me I told her about in-game cinemas and if she interrupted me during one all I said was 'cinema' and she knew. Good system. If my brother's playing Mass Effect (or any BioWare game) and there a dialogue sequence happening I won't say anything until a choice screen comes up and he does the same.
