Best CRPG ever made?

It's Baldur's Gate 2. I don't know why this poll is repeatedly made.
Recently I read and article on eurogamer or somewhere... 1000 game devs voted for their favourite game of all time and Baldur's Gate 2/series won so can we stop with these polls?
OH MY GOD, SOME DEVS SAID IT'S THE BEST END OF STORY NO MORE OPINIONS.
Quit being a dick, dick.

Leave the snark to me, junior, you're not cut out for it.
The majority of gamers will also tell you that BG2 is the best RPG, period.
Why put Fallout 2 and not 1. FO2 was pretty much just more of the same, except this time it was filled with stupid fourth wall breaking and pop culture references.
Also, like I said in another very similar thread: System Shock 2 :D

Thank you very much. Can't believe I'm being introduced by the legendary Aspie gatekeeper himself!

Why don't you go and upload even more dumb pictures on this gaming website. Clearly, your opinion isn't needed here.

1748 posts of genius (and counting).
On topic, I also voted Planescape.
I can't really say any of the games mentioned is my favorite. I probably played Morrowind the most but it has way too many gameplay faults to put it on top (I'd even put it behind Oblivion). I really like NWN2, though it has some balancing issues(3.5 D&D is a nightmare when it comes to gameplay balance).

The majority of gamers don't even know what Baldur's Gate is.

The majority of gamers don't know what a CRPG is, as we can see here.
I'm going to have to say BG2. I absolutely fucking love this game, to the end. Fallout 2 is easy second - one of THE best games ever made as well but BGII is unbelievably good.
Like, so fucking good I'd almost rather play it than buy UMvC3 or Skyrim. Okay, maybe not, but damn is it good.
Temple of Elemental Evil. Can you name any other WRPGs that let you kill signs? (Ocarina of Time doesn't count (I said WRPG).)
Planescape Torment is the correct answer here.
Everyone who says BG2 should go play Planescape because I am betting most of them did not play it. BG 2 was certain a GREAT game, but the storytelling in Planescape is so much better it cannot be stated. There is more to fight and kill in BG for sure, but there is so much more to these games than killing monsters, IMO.
Baldur's Gate II. Loved Planescape when I played it earlier this year, but if you sit down and think about what most of that game actually is, its a lot of fetch type quests with great writing and some sub par combat in-between. BGII strikes the tenuous balance of having strategic combat like Icewind Dale but also having the sensibilities of a more story focused game. Also it's like 50+ hours long.
As for the other games, Fallout 2 irks me in some specific ways, with its awkward pacing and weirdly dated pop-culture references. I can certainly tell that its still a good game, but I like the first one more. Ultima VII seems like one of those games I should play at some point, which is good since it will come to GOG eventually. Lands of Lore is the dark horse here, and while I have wishlisted it on GOG, don't have the time to even try something like that. Morrowind is a game I can respect from a distance and I'll leave it at that.

I actually bought the Lands of Lore pack earlier today, and it's quite good. The voiceover quality, in terms of bitrate is really high. Plus it's got Patrick Stewart as King Richard. Which is awesome.
Am I a bad person for only having played Morrowind from those?
Yeah, I probably am.
I'm still gonna play them someday though, been meaning to do it forever.
@Rayeth: I really enjoyed Planescape, I'm not gonna lie, but BG2 is just so much...more to me. It's got a plot that I still really like and the combat is far better than PS:T's. Plus, there are maybe three characters I liked in Planescape and one for laughs, while BG2 has boatloads of awesome characters - both funny and dramatic.
I've only played it on the Genesis, but originally it was on the PC and Amiga (maybe some other platforms too) - Buck Rogers: Countdown To Doomsday
I never owned it, but would rent it every chance I could (when there wasn't a new release I had to play as soon as possible) back in my early teenage years in the 1990's. It was amazing on the Genesis for it's complexity, which it owed to being a port of a CRPG. I loved the turn-based strategic battles, the planetary exploration, ship-to-ship combat in space, and of course the story and Buck Rogers universe (which the developers captured quite well, considering the limitations of the technology back then). A true classic in my opinion, and not to be missed by "old-school" RPG fans.

No. I haven't played any of those. (I've played games from some of the series, but not any of the games listed in the poll.)

I just love how people use words like "majority" or start giving percentages.

What about Temple of Elemental Evil? What about Sexyface conquering sexuality?
Temple of Elemental Evil, for as much as I have pimped that game on this website, is a very specific, very extreme take on the CRPG with its attempt at replicating the Pen and Paper experience of D&D as close as possible. It does what it does extremely well, but it only does like one thing, and that's combat. It's also only like 15 hours long.
Skyrim.
I loved Morrowind, and I loved Baldur's Gate 2 even more...but Bethesda really did it this time.

Morrowind on the Xbox.
It's not a CRPG when you play it on a console.
That's some really stupid logic.
@Suedehead said:
What is CRPG?
Computer Role Playing Game. Generally accepted as purely Western-developed RPGs for the PC. The list above (and Deus Ex, if you feel so inclined) should give you a general idea of what kinds of games I'm talking about. Dragon Age: Origins also falls under this category.

Computer Role Playing Game implies no console. And yeah, I'm just being a specific asshole at this point. It's my prerogative! :|
BG2 is great but I like Fallout better. I still need to try Planescape though, I've certainly heard enough people sing its praises...
@GreggD:
The Sega Master System. From what I've gathered, it's better than the PC version (better graphics and music).
