That didn't surprise me too much but I don't know if I am ready for no.2
BioShock 2 Delayed To (Fiscal) 2010
Do they really want all of the those great franchise games they have to be butting heads in sales around the same time early next year? I mean fuck, Bioshock 2 better turn out damn good. I'm extremely optimistic and pumped with just a dash of worry.
" NO Freaking Way!!! What does this mean? I wonder if its because of the multiplayer. Wait does this game have multiplayer, sheesh I don't remember "yes it does, but you'd be forgiven for making that mistake, because multiplayer in bioshock is the most retarded design decision I could possibly think of, if i were tasked with creating a new bioshock.
ouch... definitely did not see that one coming. although i am very unhappy with this move... if it proves to help the game be better when it is released, then i can wait.
I think it's a good thing because:
1) Too many awesome games coming out near it's prior release that i probably would have pushed it to the side.
2) The multiplayer sounded kinda iffy so now they have ore time to improve it which could make the game even more awesome
So while i am mad about the delay i think it was the right decision and it could really make the game a lot better
"Highly anticipated"? That may be stretching it a bit. I think most people are holding their breath to see how this sequal fairs. Personally, I have no desire to go back to Rapture.
I do not have a good feeling about this game now. They have 4 studios now working on this game. Don't get me wrong I am still going to play this but I don't think it will come close to the original.
" I was looking forward to this, but if it means a better game then i am willing to wait. A side note: I am really surprised that a lot of people aren't looking forward to this. Each to his own. "Usually when a game is pushed back it means they have alot of roadblocks in the way, it can be more business related than actual game mechanics, espicially in the economy where the video game industry is making alot of cuts on staff and consolidating teams... which is very unfortunate. I do hope they use this as an opportunity to make it better though.
Well, as long as the delay makes for a better game, I'm happy.
Good for them. I'm guessing they are seeing what an epic fail this was going to be and decided to do something about it. Hopefully they'll take away multiplayer and concentrate on an epic story like the first one. The pessimist in me is thinking this is going from a 1 star game to a 2 star game even with the delay. I hope I'm wrong, but I seriously doubt it.
" Wasn't expecting that.To be honest I approach this very positively. Everything I've seen from BioShock 2 looks very run by commitee, a sinful business exercise, a sequel only released on a cash cow basis. But if they're actually willing to push the release date back in order to deliver a better quality of product, it shows to me that they do care about making BioShock 2 more than just the first BioShock with a new story and multiplayer. This has raised my optimism for BioShock 2. It's now my most anticipated game of 2010. "I think I'm reacting the opposite way to this. I feel like now that they're adding a fourth developer so late in the game, the focus is going to be on quantity - of maps, levels, features - rather than quality.
Honestly, how well can creative direction operate when development is spread out across 4 development houses in 4 different locations? This seems like it would dilute the vision of BioShock without proper oversight and attention to detail. Their other approach could be to let each dev house put their own spin on their pieces, but that seems like it would leave the BioShock universe lacking cohesion. This seems lose-lose either way.
Im glad theyre doing it, and I hope they take all the time they need to make the sequel even better than the original...
