can getting MAIL for forum replies be changed? (READ before voting)

  many hot topics include very quick quoting and replying, like the "Giantbomb Assholes" thread just now, in a few minutes 3 pages of comments existed, and its hard to keep checking your mail for replies...  
mail should be for mail, pms and what not 
 
So im just saying, does anybody agree that there should be an easier way than mail to notify you that youve been replied to? like a Reply Tracker or some shit. 
 
 
 in other words, do you agree that getting MAIL for the replies you get in the forums is often inefficient ?    

If you dislike receiving PM's from replies you can turn it off in your notification settings.

If you go to Preferences, you can turn off being mailed for @ replys
 
Sometimes it's a bit of a bugger, but it helps me keep up with threads I might otherwise forget about.
