Can I beat psycho mantis this time?

 Ok.  I want to play MGS, my PS1 has been dead for a long time now, my ps2 is back in my home, and I only have my ps3 with me. }
I started playing it yesterday, but then I realized something. When I fight against Mantis im not going to beat him because I cant switch the controller from port 1 to 2. Or can I?
Please someone help me. i dont want to anyone mess with my mind

yes you can. i believe you can do it by pressing the PS button and switching controller ports.

Pretty sure Ajay is right, just hold down the PS button, and "Assign controller" or what ever it's called.

nah you can't. it's pretty funny cause mantis actually taunts you by saying "HAHahaHAhaHahaHAHAHA!!! You should have just played on a PS2 or PS1!!! NOW BURNNNN!!!!!!"

Playstation One saves are kept in a separate slot than the PS3 saves. So, I would assume not. But I do have Silent Hill on there, so I fully expect that he will know that, at least. I decided to buy the first three games, because I was interested in part 4. I intend to go back in there, but the camera is making that tank boss fight difficult.

That is just one of my favorite boss fights ever, and you know what im gonna start playing that game again, hell yeah.

According to my own guide on the matter, you have way, way bigger problems coming up in that fight than just whether you can switch controller ports.

Anyone try that with the fight from MGS4? It's pretty funny, and the colonel makes you feel stupid.

It's interesting how many people don't know about this. You can control a grip of things by holding down the PS button, folks. You can switch memory card slots, activate filter effects... the only thing that irritates me is how the controller setting always reverts to digital. Is there any way to set it so that it's permanently on analog?

Home button, change controller port.

I love how this boss fight is still one of the weirdest things in videogame history. i can remember being a kid at the time and getting on my knees, crawling over to the playstation and pulling out my controller. 
 
crazy...i been playing this shit too long and it's gonna be a lot longer before i stop!

Be a man! Try it without switching! I did it on my first play through when I was ten and it only took me three hours! MAN UP!
