Does anybody remember the "We just got a Wii Marathon!"?

So I was just watching the Wii U unboxing and it made me remember Gamespot's "We just got a Wii Maraton"! It was awesome! They played the Wii for 4 hours, covered the unboxing, set up, and played loads of games!

Any change GB will do that for Wii U?! It would be so good!

Well, I doubt it'll be the exact same formula, but have no fear, Giantbomb's hallmark has basically become extended sessions of even the worst of games (which is not a bad thing at all) so I reckon you'll get your fill of WiiU coverage through Quick Looks, live streams and what have you soon enough.

Yeah, they played some Zelda... and some Charlie's Angel's for the Gamecube. Good times.

I remember it. Rich kept calling rupees "bucks".

I would expect there to be a long session of really bad wii u games.

It arrived in an ice-cream truck if I recall. It was just as I started to follow video games actively.

And Brad was the one who received the package. And Rich Gallup played Zelda really poorly (he tried to herd a cat!)

@Unilad: I've watched it probably 4 or 5 times while doing other stuff over the last few years. It's saved onto my hard drive. It came a little after I'd just gotten into shows like On The Spot and found all these great guys. Such good memories, I can't wait for the WiiU one. It almost made me sad that they already have it and won't get the set-up excitement on the day.

I'd be curious to watch that. It would be cool to remember the excitement over the potential of the Wii prior to its release, before crashing down to reality and remember what actually became of it

Didn't Giant Bomb do that with the Vita?

I watched it just a few months ago so yes, I remember it. They were definitely more excited about it than they seem to be about the Wii U. I wonder why...

Because it's not their first rodeo. YEAH.

@Unilad: They have indicated that they are going to do that(as you're not the first to ask). Right now, though, they're having to navigate the legal matters surrounding it. Nintendo, at the moment, isn't allowing people to record more than short snippets of Wii U gameplay. They were only able to show the two Wii U Quicklook EX's because it was the developers showing it. The crew have said they will be doing some kind of Wii U marathon once they are able to do so.

Can't remember exactly how long the Kinect and Vita launch casts were, but they pretty much QLed every launch game. Would guess they're doing the same thing with Wii U. Although with a Sunday launch it might all be pre-recorded this time.
