Do a speedtest. Post your result. Are you the guy who smuggles LAG in my games? Or are you a smooth criminal?
Mine's a consistent 2 mbit down and 0.75 mbit up even though I'm paying for a whopping 3 mbits down and 1 up. Highway robbery, I tells you.
But seriously, small towns are being held ransom by telecommunications companies. How much do either of you pay monthly? How about others in the US?
BTW it's the ping you want to look at for lag. Not so much the actual number of bits per second. Try http://www.pingtest.net/ for a better idea of your gaming performance.
Jesus fuckin Christ!!!! Where the hell are you from to get a fast ass internet connection??
I don't even know how to post the image

You got to copy the URL into your browser and then DL your image and then upload to GB, since GB forums don't seem to support regular Forum codes.
Since they only just did that upgrade and I just installed it, I might just not be throttled back yet. Pretty certain I'm testing for like 10x what I pay for. But right now it tests that high on average." @Seppli: Is that around average for a swiss internet speed? Because that is fuckin' faaast. ...Or do you own an ISP? "
Nah - Switzerland ain't that social no more. Don't know about Sweden, which is one of the most socialized countries in the world. Even hobos wear proper suits in Sweden - I can attest to that. So they actually might have free broadband internet. Not free of taxes though." @Seppli said:
Very nice. I pay ~$45 USD for my garbage connection. How fast is the "free" tier for socialized Swedish connections? "" @MrKlorox: I pay 60$ monthly flat. They've got a 85$ flatrate with double the bandwidth. If you got Rapidshare, you could download the world... "
UPC 30 meg unlimited bandwidth (although when a faster package comes out they usually send a mail saying "people have been complaining about you slowing down their internet, please upgrade!), fastest in Ireland at the moment getting upgraded to 100 meg by the end of the month/start of the next €50 a month!
I'm still jealous dude, they were starting to roll out fibre connections in the UK, but our new government have made a lot of cuts which means we probably wont start getting decent internet speeds for another 5-10 years :(" @Izaak said:

But right now it tests that high on average. Nah. I'm paying for 50 Mb/s. Which is the slowest fibre connection. Had 20 Mb/s before, which was the norm for cablecom. Other ISPs using phonelines are between 10-20 Mb/s advertised. The cheap internet I have now is pretty shitty compared to what I had before.
But I can't be picky, it still works for gaming and all the other junk I'm doing online so that's good.
Though I miss my download being up over the 400 Mb/s
Oh well, better to keep the games rolling in and the food on the table than super fast and most-of-it-unused-anway anyway
I'm fine on the low end
One of the problems with speed tests like this is that Comcast (and probably others) has the "PowerBoost" thing they do, which means the first ~10 MB of a download/upload are much faster than the rest, so it throws it all out of whack.
Dudebro - you actually make a good point. How important is upload for games? How would online experiences profit from a generally higher upload bandwidth of consumers?" @Seppli: No, YOU are the one causing lag in MY games with YOUR petty upload speed!
