This might seem like a n00b sort of question, but I've been wondering this for the longest time. Different users on Giant Bomb have different color names, I see some Greys, some Reds and I think mine is green or something to that effect. What does that mean? I assume it has something to do with post count, contributions, if you're a moderator or not. Can anyone clear this up for me?
Giant Bomb User Name Colors
Blue = Sony
Green = Microsoft
Red = Nintendo
Orange = PC in comments
White = PC in forums
Grey = Neutral
Yay FAQ
It is more or less your alignment/fav system or what ever.
" i still dont get why pc gets TWO colors.... >:( "PC master race.
Also, I heard the entire GB crew are PC-exclusive gamers in their spare-time.
I have to say that I really like the whole name color system, but I wish that some people on GB didn't take it so seriously. "ZOMG UR NAEM IS GREENZ, UR OPINON IZ INVALIDZ!!1! U FANBOY111!"
" When I first got on the site, I thought it was just random crap. But now I know!!!! "I thought Reds were mods. Always wondered why there were a million of them.
Then I saw a post like this explaining it. Have seen a billion more since.
I sort of wondered this when I first got here, thought it was some sort of special award. Doesn't seem so cool anymore, plus those who keep their names a certain colour are prone to hasty generalisations by other users after they post something in support or opposition of a certain console. :/
" I just wanted a green name. "I picked Sony for all the reasons there is to pick Sony when I first signed up. Now, the only reason I stick with the blue Sony is cause I like the blue. Just like you!
Getting some serious rhymes going here.

"I actually like that. It weeds out the true fanboys quite easily. If someone is going to call me a Sony fanboy just because I posted a negative opinion about a Microsoft game or product, I can rest assured knowing who the fanboy actually is. Yeah, I have a blue title. So what? The PS3 is my main gaming console, and being on my now 7th Xbox 360, who can blame me for choosing to support Sony's console over Microsoft's? Years of using an Xbox 360 have only ended in broken units needing to be replaced, why should I continue to support them when I have a perfectly fine launch PS3? Does that mean my opinions about anything non-Sony are completely invalidated (even though I own an Xbox 360, gaming PC, DS, and up until a few weeks ago, a Wii)? Well, according to some people on here, yes.
I think the actual console fanboys on here just use the color scheme for their own self-validation. "I sleep well at night because my purchase was/is better than your purchase."
And here's me thinking the red titles were for man-children who shouldn't be allowed on the internet. Besides for get2sammyb, as he is sound as a pound.
" @Spoonman671 said:You make a good point. The extent to which the alignment system functions to incite, and therefore spotlight, obvious fanboys definitely makes it easier to know who to and who not to pay heed. It's certainly more efficacious than me coming to the forums and wishing people on the internet would stop being so stupid so that I could just value the opinions of all individuals rather than be forced to sift through the sheep to get to the thoughts of real thinking people." Next question after still not having read the FAQ, what changes this? I'm guessing it's not manual? I really need to read that damn FAQ, just don't have time at the moment and a cut and dry answer would be great. And apparently, I'm Microsoft aligned *shutters*

It is so wrong... so so wrong... but strangely compels me to play one of my many WWII PC Games.

It's funny how you didn't realise white = pc gamers because it's so difficult to detect, that it's almost like they are neutral because the site doesn't care. Our pc names should of been in orange, whatever.
" I kinda wish Neutrals didnt have to get the neutral color. "Eh, what do you care, you're a giant toaster.
" I like the green! "I like the gold. *prepares the torture device* You know, we can do this the easy way. *prepares it a bit more*
I discovered this only last week. I think it was an inherited thing from Comic Vine, where allegiances actually matter.
