GotG Round 3: Super Mario Galaxy vs. Fallout 3

Super Mario Galaxy is losing? Are you guys high?

Close one for me, but gotta go With SMG. And dat soundtrack!

Already closer than I anticipated. I'm guessing because Super Mario Galaxy was a system exclusive (and for a system not a lot of people particularly care for), despite being more fun and having more craft. This could get interesting.

Fallout 3, because I haven't posted that blog yet.

Played through galaxy with my at the time 5 year old nephew, not many gaming experience can match up to that. Having said that I just watched the book of Eli and I'm all like...apocalypse fuck ye \m/.

I think I've voted for Mario in every poll it's been in. I didn't even think it was all that great when I was playing through it, it's just upon reflection I realize it's the best platformer I've ever played. Fallout 3 was a decent RPG in a sea of decent RPGs.

Super Mario Galaxy for me. That was the most innovative Mario game since 64. Fallout 3 was good, but it didn't stand out as much. It also got really monotonous after awhile.

Really, guys? Fallout 3? Of all the games Super Mario Galaxy loses to it has to be Fallout 3?

I played a few hours of Mario Galaxy and disliked every minute of it. For all of the problems Fallout has(which are numerous), I could at least stand playing it for dozens of hours.

Mario fans are gonna be super salty if this continues.

Dammit, it's like the best Mario vs. the worst Fallout and Fallout is still winning. I'm gonna have to go find a bunch of geezers with which to commiserate on the state of my generation.

This post is simply "which game have most people played". The bigger selling game wins every time. So exclusives like Witcher and Mario are doomed

I'm amazed by how many people think SMG is even nearly as good as Fallout 3.

I finished every single quest in that buggy, messy game and still wanted more.

What one does when one is seven years old never leaves one, I suppose.

I think Fallout: New Vegas is better than Fallout 3, so that means that Super Mario Galaxy is also better than Fallout 3. What I'm trying to say here is that Fallout 3 is good, but great it is not.

Given that Sleeping Dogs beat GTAV and Uncharted 2 beat Minecraft, I'm gonna say no. Not that I'm any happier about this one, but whatcha gonna do?

Late to the Party on Fallout 3.... I had about 7 crashes before leaving the vault. ...... I'm okay with crashes, but serious RPG shouldn't mean bad controls or just randomly jabbering characters, floating stuff. BLAH! Glad I got this for 5 bucks.

Love all the butthurt over Fallout 3 constantly winning.

Although I think Mario Galaxy deserves to win, I can't say I'm upset with Fallout 3.

Given that it's next hurtle is Mass Effect 2 I suspect you should enjoy it while you can.

Wait, so first Super Mario Galaxy beat out Rock Band (which frankly it should've lost to), and now SMG is losing to Fallout 3 when it should be winning handily in this particular matchup?

Sleeping Dogs vs.GTA V is a weird outlier because I feel like we reached the backlash against thinking GTA is all that good way faster than usual, so everyone is primed to go "Mannnn, that game is more of the same". Maybe to clarify, the poll generally goes to "which game sold an order of magnitude more than the other, unless a game's fun is not so easily had". Yes, Minecraft sold a ton, but I'm sure a lot of people tried it out and it wasn't for them, or they got bored with it after a while and looking back on it, they don't think as fondly of it as the fun little Indiana Jones movie that is Uncharted 2. Uncharted 2 basically can't possibly outstay its welcome, whereas lots of people have gotten burnt out on Minecraft after a while.

SMG, It's Mario and the platforming is as good as it got this gen.

@box3ru13: @shishkabob: I feel your pain. I'm amazed this many people still remember Fallout 3 so positively. I guess the world really made an impression upon people, but I definitely never would've thought it had a chance at beating Super Mario Galaxy.

I'm not even an especially huge fan of Mario, but holy shit Fallout 3 was mad boring. Can't believe it's getting through these rounds.

Of all games, SMG is not the game you can pull this card for. The Wii sold amazingly and Super Mario Galaxy was one of the best-selling games on the system.

What you guys seem to think of Fallout 3 is exactly how I think of Skyrim, but i'm not seeing nearly the amount of needless hate when that game dominates every poll. Seriously, folks were losing their minds over how important CoD4 was and that game's getting WRECKED by samey-RPG-with-boring-story-boring-locations-boring-world.

@lackingsaint: I have absolutely no way of proving this but from what I observe I feel that while Wii has a huge presence in the world at large it is not represented in the same way on this forum which is why it's losing out here. I prefer Fallout over SMG but I just don't think games in these polls are winning for the right reasons.

Man I was with you guys on almost every decision before, but this round I disagree with basically every game that's winning.
