Greatest Trilogy

Its a well know fact EA didn't just snap up Bioware for the trilogy, there will be more games after the main story is concluded.

But do you think it will become the most memorable and solid gaming trilogy ever? The first two have already been GOTY contenders.

What else could hold a candle to it?

Mass Effect isn't even a trilogy yet.

God of War 3 isn't out yet.

Super Mario Bros is decades older than the other games on the list.

My point is will it prove to be the greatest when the first two are already classics

Dude, this is like the worst poll imaginable. God of War 3 isn't even out yet. Mass Effect 3 has yet to even be revealed. That leaves us with Halo and Super Mario Bros. I voted for SMB. While SMB2 isn't as loved, still, I don't know if any trilogy can beat the Super Mario Bros. games.

The Godfather trilogy.

#7 Posted by fuzzyponken (694 posts) - 3 years, 3 months ago

I would have to say Metroid Prime.

#8 Posted by Doctorchimp (3978 posts) - 3 years, 3 months ago

You have god of war and mass effect in there....

But leave out Half-Life, Half-Life 2, and the Half-Life 2: Episodes?

Fail poll in Fail topic....

Star Wars.

What about the Zenithia trilogy? The SNES Fire Emblems? The second gen Pokemon games? Anybody?

#11 Posted by ArcLyte (858 posts) - 3 years, 3 months ago

the Eisenhorn trilogy by Dan Abnett. yeah, it's a book series, but it's the best.

#12 Posted by Dark_Jon (581 posts) - 3 years, 3 months ago

Star Wars

Unless BioWare go completely nuts and screw up immensly for the third game, I'm pretty confident in choosing Mass Effect out of those options.

#14 Posted by deathfury (520 posts) - 3 years, 3 months ago

The Too Human trilogy, duh.

Mario son, Mario.

#17 Posted by Goopynose (59 posts) - 3 years, 3 months ago

Mass Effect 3 hasn't even been released. What a stupid option.

#18 Posted by Bones8677 (3084 posts) - 3 years, 3 months ago

What about the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy (NES)? Castlevania Trilogy (NES)? Rayman Trilogy?

Out of those choices I'll go with Super Mario.

Not enough options. "Other" shouldn't be a cover for laziness.

My money is on Mass Effect.

I would really like to hope Mass Effect clinches this title.  I mean if they keep down the path of vastly improving every imaginable flaw in each game's predecessor then I think they will have achieved it no problem.

The Halo series was great but it got to a point where it became too much of a franchise, where you really didn't know exactly what was going on unless you done some outside research.  Mass Effect has all the info in the game, which really isn't needed to understand the story anyway, but at least it's there.  On top of that I was very disappointed in the ending of Halo 3, I was expecting a Lord of the Rings style epic battle where the Chief would sacrifice himself to save all of mankind.  No, we get a lame bossfight and a rehash of the worst part of the first game.

God of War, in my personal opinion, is the most over-rated series of all time.  Seriously there isn't much depth to the story, it's filled with despicable and totally unlikable characters, and the gameplay is just a little more deep than what is available in Dynasty Warriors.  It was fun to play through, but I have no attachment to the series what so ever.

Super Mario is a classic series and it is well made, for what it is.  There just isn't any sort of story linking them together, I feel like calling those games a trilogy is silly.  It'd be like calling any three games in any franchise a trilogy, are Madden 06-08 a trilogy?  They are just as linked together as those Mario games were.  I'm not bashing the games, they're fantastic(I even liked 2 for what it was) but this is by no means a trilogy.

No, no, no.  It's the Advent Rising Trilogy.

My actual answer is the GTA3 trilogy. Or the three Troika games... but they weren't really one series.

Of Final Fantasy on SNES maybe.

@Tomarlyn: No Idea,
Haven't even played Mass Effect 3 or God of War 3 o.O
#28 Posted by Yummylee (18138 posts) - 3 years, 3 months ago

The original Resident Evil trilogy babeeh!
#29 Posted by Kowbrainz (921 posts) - 3 years, 3 months ago

Personal pick? Donkey Kong Country trilogy. Otherwise, might just go for the original three Super Mario Bros games.

@nk19: Yep. It was the first pic I could find of all three together via Google image search.
#32 Posted by Lydian_Sel (2258 posts) - 3 years, 3 months ago

Certainly some inconsistencies on this list, but fuck it... I still stuck with Mass Effect.

#33 Posted by mrmanga (185 posts) - 3 years, 3 months ago

Im sorry dude but this Poll is kinda bad... i mean Halo has more then 3 games, Mass effect 3 isnt out in at least 3 years. God of war isnt out yet, Mario bros has now more then 3 games and so on. You should have named the thread something else and dropped the Poll.

To answer the question tough: Prince of persia the sands of time triology. Yeah the 2nd game is bad but its the only real triology i can think off :/

Meh, Episodes one and two might as well be considered download content for HL2 IMO. Not sequels.

Halo 1-3 is considered a trilogy, its the core of the series ending with ''finish the fight''.

Again the point of the topic is 'do you think Mass Effect will be considered the greatest' once the third is out (considering the first two are so good). Or pick your current favourite. I feel like I've caused people to have a life crisis here *offers hugs*

Pretend your an analyst on the Bombcast or something.
