I think it's kind of crazy that they don't let you do this sort of thing yet. I remember back when the PS2 came out and people only wanted their games to only come out on the PS2 cause everyone had one. Why doesn't this exist now?
Update: Seems like I'm getting a lot of flak for this. Think about it this way. Just because something doesn't exist now doesn't mean that it can't exist later. Think of Back to the Future.
Have you ever wondered why you can't play Xbox games on the iPad?

I have no substantial basis to go on to believe that I am older than you, yet here I am believing I'm older than you.
Have you guys ever wondered why clothing and food are two different things? When my mother was giving me the option of 'eat it or wear it', didn't she prove the two are interchangeable?

uhhh could someone please explain the OP's logic in this thread? cause i have never thought of that in my life....
Mr. myloginispassword, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha... gasp... hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha... gasp... hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha... gasp-choke... hahahahahahahaha uyh.... <this user has died from laughter>
Ok, well obviously you guys haven't thought that. rolf. But seriously, this is the sort of thing that even though it's kind of crazy to think of right now should totally happen!
Think of it this way. When Super Mario Bros came out did you think that you could play it on a phone later in life? I mean that's the sort of thing I'm kind of talking about here. If Steve Jobs wanted to enter the game market the best way to do it would be to make the iPad play PS3 and Xbox360 games. I don't really see why it couldn't if they just added some hardware to it.
" Because the games would be horribly unplayable "Again, that's only because you're thinking of the way things are now. Apple always puts in patents for new things. Maybe a controller that you can play like an XBox360 and PS3 controller that's not an actual physical thing is in the works. Kind of like those keyboards that are just holograms but you can put the image on any surface and still type on them.

That's you and everyone else in this thread.

"well it could if they added some hardware to it, it would be a lot thicker, about the thickness of an xbox and weigh about the same too. would also need to stay plugged in.
they would also have to license that aspect from Sony and Microsoft.
so it would probably cost $2000+, and with the already mentioned hardware size and weight, go from being the best tablet on the market to the absolute worst.
with the flash based hard drive, it might have the fastest loading times of any of the "next gen" consoles. so there is that benefit.
" You already can, by the way. "Ha! Eat this everyone.

Are you some iPad enthusiast or something? The users in this thread are mocking you because of how nonsensical the OP was. That and the controls on most games that are on Apple products tend to suck when they are just ports of franchises that don't belong there. Hell if I'd ever want to play Halo on an iPad.

"Dude, you just can't even think of it yet. If you think that technology is going to stay exactly the way it is right now or even limited to your imagination well then... thank christ that you don't have any control over technology trends.
Have you ever wondered why you can't like watch a song in a microwave? I mean seriously what if you were like cooking up some delicious food and could watch your favorite band play a song inside of your microwave oven! Wouldn't that be like totally SICK!?!?
oh so you mean emulation." Ok, well obviously you guys haven't thought that. rolf. this is how that would work:
slow as fuck
there's no god damn buttons on it
would never get through the app store.
games are like 7 gig's a pop.
EDIT: bro...you're a genius. DUDE ALL THEY NEED TO DO IS ADD SOME HARDWARE TO IT!
then i can have an ipad that is un-portable
has a battery that would last like 5 minutes
and cost like 1000 dollars.

As the iPad's current state (which, you didn't specify in the title whether you were implying the future of the iPad or not) is rather incapable of great (see: onlive) performance of console gaming, I'd have to say that half the people saying you're off for thinking of it are right. Plus if you start talking about attaching a controller to the iPad, that's regular PC gaming at its finest, albeit with a controller. You originally make no sense then start rambling about future tech that "we can't just imagine." Well christ, make the thread about future iPad technology then, not porting console games to a platform that doesn't perform well with them at the moment.
" @A_Cute_Squirtle said:Well considering that you centered this thread around the iPad, anything you say about "the future" is invalid. You have no arguments, give up." Dude, the reason people are laughing at you is because everything you say sounds like the it's coming out of the mouth of a sugar high 10 year old. Try to solidify your ideas and structure your sentences.
Your idea is still a little dumb for a variety of reasons that others have already expressed, but at least you won't come off as a little kid who just stumbled onto the Internet.
