If you could build a team of six members from past and present Giant Bomb crew who would they be?

The Mount Rushmore of Giant Bomb (Ryan, Jeff, Vinny, Brad) is basically required, so you really only have two slots to play with.

Dan came in at a difficult time and helped kicked the site in the pants when they needed it the most, so I’m going to say Dan earned his spot. I’d regret it...frequently...but I’d know it’s the right choice.

Lastly, Austin. He’s smart, funny, and super self-aware. The man can shoot from the hip with wit and also come Batman-levels of prepared with perfectly worded prose to make a point. I repect the hell out of Austin Walker. I wish the site had produced more Austin/Jeff content, as I really liked the way they interacted on the rare occurrence that they did.

TLDR: Ryan, Jeff, Vinny, Brad, Dan, Austin

Vinny, Jeff, Dan, Brad, Ryan... hrmm.. 6th... maybe Abby or Austin. (my 100% skip group on any content would be Patrick or Ben.)

I envisage a few teams for different scenarios (some cloning necessary as schedule demands):

Team "TED" (Deep dives and meta): Drew, Austin, Patrick, Jeff, Rory, Ben

Team "Seen Some Shit" (Keeping it old school): Jeff, Ryan, Brad, Vinny, Alex, Jason

Team "Millennial" (All the hip new things the kids are into): Abby, Dan, Austin, Patrick, Ben, Jeff (for contrast and/or flavour)

Team "All Star": Dave Lang, Dave Lang, Dave Lang, Dave Lang, Dave Lang, Dave Lang

Seconded, except the part about regretting Dan, now that I know that the heel factor is 95% a bit, I not only become more acclimated to him, he has become one of my favorite members, if not my favorite.

The specific number of six gives me the perfect excuse to name my six solely based on good pairings:

Jeff & Ryan, Vinny & Drew, Dan & Jason

Business Dave, Dave Lang, Dave Snider, Jeff Gerstmann, Jeff Bakalar and Jeff Green.

Ryan, Jeff, Vinny, Brad, Drew, and Austin

Abby, Vinny, Brad, Dan, Austin, Jeff i guess.

@sinreaver: I know Dan plays up some of the more interesting aspects of his personality, but there was a recent Beastcast where Dan was just on fire with his “I don’t know anything” schtick. From drill bits to Cleopatra, I was just in awe.

Any regret I’d have about Dan is with sincere affection...besides, Vinny needs him as a foil.

The original team is still the best team but it's a heartbreak.

I don't see any point in limiting it to 6. In my fantasy world I'd like to see all the past and current staffers (as well as super super Guests) in one giant staff.

@nutter: I don't think you'd need everybody, every time on the podcast nor would you try to do that. You could have multiple podcasts or rotating participants, or people who are never/rarely on etc.

I think you'd do the same even if you only picked 6 people in OP's hypothetical

I have favorites for sure but i really do value just about everyone pretty highly so i couldnt, in good conscience, pick 6 and leave out others.
