I've been to enough weddings at this point that I would gladly welcome anything that felt different, that felt like it had some life in it. They're just all so...rote. Like...I find it strange people don't let more of their personality and interests shine through during their weddings. That is your day. Go nuts. Have some fuckin fun.

I support this decision, as giving Taco Bell the power to conduct ceremonies previously reserved for religions and the state, leads us closer and closer to a future where Demolition Man actually happens.

@deathstriker: I saw some videos from other contestants who had been trying to get married for years but never had the money, and that kind of stuff makes you feel for them. That's not to say that Dan and Bianca are super well off or anything, but you know.

Yeah, I'm not rooting against Dan, but he doesn't automatically deserve to win because he's on a popular website/podcast. There might be some poor people who need it or someone with a better story out there.

@deathstriker: If you look at it from a marketing/advertising perspective, it might very well be that Taco Bell will favor the story of a financially struggling couple or a similar kind of story, over one with a lot of push and pull from a fan base. Though Dan has a lot of history and love for the Taco Bell brand, so he has that going for him at least.

Bianca sounds like the most amazing woman. i mean hell she can actually deal with dan and his bullshit. that takes so much strength and mental fortitude. best of luck to them

I was sitting at the mall with my friend the other day, he is scrolling through his phone, stops and goes "some guy wants to be the first to marry in a Taco Bell, that is so dumb."
I respond "Is the guy Dan Ryckert?" He of course says yes.
In that moment I knew this must happen. It's the only right choice.

I feel like I shouldn't promote this idea for the sake of Dan's fiance, but also she's marrying Dan so..

The more I read about Dan the more I think he's some Haruhi Suzumyia-esque figure who at some point created a new universe and we're all actually just pawns in his game.

I want to preface this opinion: What I'm saying here really doesn't matter, in the long run. Think I'm an asshole all you want but I want to say this as a fan of Dan's work.

I wish them the best but I just can't support this. First of all there's the fact that you're associating your marriage so closely with a brand, but that's just a personal thing. Dan (and presumably Bianca) are okay with this so all's well that ends well. I do think weddings should be a less traditional and should reflect the people who are being married, for the record. I'm not some wedding traditionalist.

Again, my opinion is irrelevant, but the idea of Dan getting this is kinda awful to me, especially when there are other contestants who, quite frankly, deserve this way more than Dan because of financial constraints, and probably don't want to get married in a Taco Bell but this might be their only shot for a while. I don't want to make assumptions about Dan's financial state, but he has a stable job and could afford to live in San Francisco, albeit with a roommate.

It sits so poorly with me that he has a shot just because he's employed at Giant Bomb. It feels like a joke gone too far, and I don't think something that could potentially be a great thing for a couple who may see this as a last hope of actually being married should be given to someone who just loves Taco Bell and might think it's funny to get married in one.

I don't really find it funny or cute and think some non internet celebrity should get the chance instead.

@clairvoyantvibrations: I see your points but I largely disagree. I think it would be unfair to disqualify Dan because of his Internet profile. If he, out of nowhere, decided to get married at the Taco Bell Chapel because it would be the fun thing to do, I'd be on board with what you are saying.

However, Dan has been such a clear, passionate and ardent fan of Taco Bell that I honestly think he would get the most out of the wedding. I'm a socialist at heart and always want to help those with financial constraints, but this wedding idea falls under a 'want' rather than a 'need'. A couple with financial constraints can have a civil ceremony and make it their own special thing. A wedding is what you make of it (we did ours really cheap). Of course the whole Vegas thing with Taco Bell paying for it would be an awesome experience, and if you do have financial constraints then of course it would be amazing, but I think it's unfair to say 'Dan's well known and sounds pretty well off so he can't have it'. I do wonder if he'll run into an issue due to his working for CBS, but otherwise I'd love to see him get this because it reflects something he has clearly been passionate about for a long time. He'll be fine without it too, but I wish him and Bianca all the best in this.

I'm mostly just trying to rationalize the whole "Taco Bell Wedding" thing generally I think. It seems... not right. That's mainly why I think a less fortunate, or less financially stable couple would make me happy, because even if I the wedding itself is something completely alien to me, at least a pair of people were given something that they may not have had a chance to get. That said, I do truly believe Dan would love getting married in a Taco Bell.

More power to Dan and Bianca on this one. If they want to get married in a fast food chapel then they should do it. I just can't support something like this, not because of Dan's presumed ability to afford his own wedding, but because I think the promotion itself is a bit unsettling to the point where it feels like a joke.

I still think it'll really suck if Dan just takes this because of the site's community, and it still makes me feel kind of shitty. I just think maybe my "financial stability" argument was more of a consideration regarding the entire contest, and what I would hope would come out of such a crazy weird thing, and I used an assumed assessment of someone's wealth to attempt to justify it.

I live in Sweden and I had no issues voting for Dan. Maybe it's restricted to only certain European countries?

I live in the UK and voted, just had to untick the box that says 'enter me into the competition'. That seems to be the only bit that is locked to US only.
