So... I just been dumped (via email) by my girlfriend after 4 and 1/2 years of communal life... needless to say that I feel like shit. I need a simple feel good game on PC to hopefully keep me busy or I will go insane. Plz give me suggestions if you know of any.

And yes, I wish I was kidding but sadly I am not.

The amount of times I have fallen to my death and lost everything, while playing on peaceful, has surely reduced my lifespan with the amount of rage introduced into my body.

Email? Who even uses email for anything vaguely important?? Sorry, man.

However, sounds like the perfect time for some Saints Row The Third.

This. The bitch was cowardly enough to dump a 4.5 year relationship via email. Time to blow shit up. Just Cause 2 comes to mind.

Also,

Bastion

E-mail? After 4 fucking years. Wow that's really rough. Anyway Id actually suggest jus kicking back and relax, watch a few quick looks. Those always give me a smile. But as far as games go I don't really know any "feel good games". If I think of somethin ill comment later.

Again I'm sorry, I hope you bounce back brotha

Sniper Elite V2 and only go for testicle shots. Dungeon Defenders is on sale on Steam as well which I think is definitely worth the money.

Rayman Origins or Bastion (not on hard) would be my suggestion. Very good audio and visuals, and the action has a very relaxed but continuous vibe to it.

Serious Sam also has a bit of a light and feel good side to it.

Definitely Bastion if you haven't played it yet. Just the right combination of action and relaxation at the same time.

Wow, what a bitch. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "feel good games", but here are some that I can really take my mind off of things:

Dark Souls

FTL

XCOM: Enemy Unknown (the new one)

Rome: Total War

Email? Really?

I'd suggest Nintendo games cause they're usually light hearted or whatever you feel like playing/doing dude. You're free now!

4.5 years and she broke it off by email?!

Fuck me, I'd be tempted to play the 'post explicit photos of my ex on Facebook' game after that one, what a fucking cowardly thing to do.

I'm sorry man, for what it is worth you can obviously do way better

I realise that a lot of games aren't even close to feel good, most are sad or depressing or frustrating. An MMO is the infamous way to effectively dive head first into something and forget you even exist as a functioning human being for large stretches of time... if you find no other way to cope with the shitty situation. It doesn't 'help' though, it's like jumping into a cryo-freeze, the only thing that happens is time jumps forward and you become malnourished due to freezer burn.

FTL. I was super stressed out last week because I was potentially going to lose my best friend as they were contemplating moving away (They didn't!). So I started playing that and then 7 hours later realized it was after midnight. It's definitely a good distraction.

Edit: It isn't so much feel good as a great distraction. For feel good, play SimGolf. That game is super happy and can absorb many hours of your day. I know from experience, trust me.

Peggle is a must. So is Civilization 5. Episodes from Liberty City. Really good games to take your mind off shit. Just don't play Flower or Limbo now please!

Hope it helps somehow.

I would suggest buying the double fine bundle on steam. Great games, funny, and a great way to cheer yourself up.

VIA E-MAIL??? Holy FUCK.

And as some people said, blow shit up in Just Cause 2. Or play some CoD/other shooter to release some anger. Put on some The Acacia Strain or Despised Icon while doing so. Angry music.

That's how I'd do it, anyway.

Have a look at VVVVVV I thoroughly enjoyed that, all you do is save your friends, and everyone is happy to see you. Mini Ninjas can provide some warm fuzzies if you can handle the cuteness. Bastion is definitely a contender, I'll back up Zekhariah and say play it on the lowest difficulty level, although it can be rather solemn. If you have some feel good music queue it up in the Polynomial, I have killed some serious hours flying around in there. I haven't given this a shot myself but it seems like just the thing for some relaxation though it doesn't really have a gameplay focus: http://www.freeindiegam.es/2012/10/adrift-tyen/

Man, this still has me pissed, if you do find a game you want to chill out to, send me a PM, I'll buy it for you. No man should have to deal with such cowardice and strain his wallet at the same time.

I would suggest Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale and Psychonauts if you really feel the need to play a game, but I would recommend physical exercise... it's the best way to feel less shitty.

Braid, Trine 2, or Dead Rising 2. All of those games make me happy. But honestly, nothing soothes me when I'm in a bad situation like Nintendo. I think that's actually what they do best.

How about The Sims 3? It always cheers me up. It's easy going and light hearted. Or for some catharsis, you could create a certain someone and watch her pee herself and starve to death.

Good luck.

Borderlands 1 or 2. Crazy stuff, loot and crazy battles.
Or Diablo 3, get your click going! (I so read that wrong myself).
