um, I'm pretty sure they've said several times that a new endurance run will not be for subscribers only.
New Endurance Run Confirmed: Best Kept Secret? (Good job GB)
As to your apology, I totally understand why all these members are defending their £3/£30, and the fact you've only had 71 member only videos is bullshit. The crew has tried as long as possible to avoid pissing off free members which has severely limited the content you should be recieving so, lo' and behold, the first really good piece of member content they release (daggerfall) some of the free members piss their pants without considering what theyre getting for their £0.
I want more member content, because that ensures more people subscribe, allowing me to have more free content. I just don't want them to turn free content into paid content for asshole reasons.
How about this... we wait and see if it's for subscribers only. If it's not, then everyone's a winner with a new ER. If it is, then all the non-subscribers can bring up the fact that GB said that non-subscribers would not lose content that was already free. But please wait until it's known one way or the other -- there's no point until then.
A thing called ENDURANCE RUN will NOT BE SUBSCRIBERS ONLY. Several people have mentioned this already, but for some reason the theories keep coming in. Jeff, Ryan and Dave have mentioned that the subscriber stuff would be new and that they would never ask you to pay for something that was already free. My best guess would be that all of this was said during that podcast explaining the new subscriber plan, why they were doing it and how it would work.
@pornstorestiffi: It wont be, they promised to never do another Atlus game.Good to know.
Or they could just emulate that shit. Hell, if it's a PC game, they would have to emulate it anyway.@Canteu: The value thing is just IF they choose to play an older game, they will be using equipment the subscribers helped pay for.
In response to those who said they think it'll be El Shaddai, I kinda hope it won't be, because that game isn't terribly long, and it's mostly just melee combat and platforming. Not really the ER style, what with P4 and DP being all open and long and whatnot. But who knows!

That's what I thought when they posted the Starcraft TNT and then the all the other TNTs became subscribers only.
Jeff, Ryan and Dave have mentioned that the subscriber stuff would be new and that they would never ask you to pay for something that was already free.Except for Quick Look Throwbacks and live streams of the staff playing SNES games.
@H2Oyea said:That's why I said "a thing called endurance run". They said there would be another endurance run, and if they're using that specific name for it, then they won't charge for it. The "quicklook throwback" you're referring to is the Daggerfall gameplay, I assume. It wasn't labeled as a quicklook whereas this is being labeled an endurance run.Jeff, Ryan and Dave have mentioned that the subscriber stuff would be new and that they would never ask you to pay for something that was already free.Except for Quick Look Throwbacks and live streams of the staff playing SNES games.

Also cause it wasn't a QL. It wasn't them taking a section of the game and explaining how the game works. It was them chilling and playing the game from the start, and maybe they'll keep up with it.
@gladspooky said:They should probably label it a Let's Play and charge for it, then, if they want to go for a hat trick.@H2Oyea said:That's why I said "a thing called endurance run". Wrong, TNT as content has always been free, but archived videos of TNT has never been available to free users or subscribers until recently. Watching TNT on the justinTV archive is always available content, watching an archived version on the GB site is a convenience and a service. It's like Tivo, you can always watch the show for free on TV, but you have to pay for the convenience of watching the archived recording. They are not withholding content, but a service. And you can't complain about that since it was never a service that was available for them to take away from you in the first place.
Here lies the problem with Giant Bomb, everything they have done, content wise, has been free already that they've painted themselves in a corner with their "don't take anything away that was already available for free." They've nothing left to offer. HD video and archived TNTs are the only Giant Bomb specific perks of being a subscriber. I don't want them to take anything away from free users and I'm glad they're trying hard to think of ways to reward subs without taking anything away. But right now I am at a loss of what they can offer because technically, everything they can think of they already did in the past for everyone. So I can imagine the hurdles they have to go through instead of seeing them as greedy villains.
Also I don't think they are making the ER sub only. They already feel hesitant doing an ER because of how cheap and easy it is to gain site views from one game, so I doubt they'd resort to suckering everyone into a subscription by making is sub-only. There really should be no concern over this.
