Next gen third party games are better than first party.

1. Watch Dogs is the new awesome franchise you all know you love. You're excited about it and you want to play it. This is a statement of fact.

2. Blizzard has its own fucking convention. Every Blizzard game is flawlessly crafted and sells infinite copies over time.

3. Electronic Arts is a company that makes all the video games.

4. R* now have a roster of IP's better than all of Microsofts first party properties. What did MS buy when THQ folded? . HOLY SHIT is this debatable!?

If Sega announced a completely new AAA Sonic title as well as an ECCO THE DOLPHIN 2014 remake...everyone would line up for it everywhere and it would be sold out forever.

Sonic fans are weird and have a sexual fixation with the characters. That's an unbreakable bond and there hasn't even been a good sonic game since Sonic 2.

Microsoft hasn't shown its system yet. Nintendo has always been about it's legacy IPs. Can't say much about Sony until after E3

I'd be pretty happy if this were the case. Even though I can (and probably will) buy both new systems, I would love it if the best games were non-exclusives. Heck, I'd love it if all games came out on PC, to be honest...

You had me until the whole Sega thing. Would I really want a new AAA Sonic game? No I would not thank you. Never played Ecco so also not interested. Unless you do a gritty crossover where Sonic is a bloodthisty hedgehog who murders dolphins and Ecco has to get revenge for Sonic killing his family.

@believer258: You have to kind of wonder about the future of Quakecon given id's recent release history and their buyout by Bethesda. It's a lot of money to put on a convention and I kind of doubt Rage was exactly hugely profitable for Bethesda...

I'm confused, outside of the new Infamous and Killzone, have any new first party games been announced for the next generation? Also, who cares if all third party games end up being better than first party? Is this a big deal for anyone? Also SEGA releasing a triple A Sonic? C'mon son!

Anybody who thinks Sega can just come out with a Sonic game and suddenly be awesome as well as Ecco the Dolphin (seriously?) has lost their marbles. While I will agree that 3rd parties together can come out with more and better games than either the big 3 manufacturers no single developer/publisher can trump them especially when games like GTA come out once every 4-5 years.

I'm currently replaying Warhammer 40k Space Marine, because my Dark Arisen copy still hasn't materialized (it's sold out everywhere), and despite calling bullshit on the OP, I agree that SEGA has become somewhat of a Dark Horse.

Relic man, it's one of the most awesomest development houses around. Objectively, Relic deserves the RTS crown. Subjectively, WH40k Space Marine is the most awesomest 3rd person shooter of the current generation. As far as I'm concerned, whatever Relic does is likely to rock my world.

I've preferred third party games to first party for a long time. I think Naughty Dog is the only first party studio I'd put in my top ten.

You can't call Watchdogs a beloved franchise when it doesn't have a single released product. That game isn't anything until it actually comes out, so don't go all high and mighty on it just yet. That would be unwise.

I think of this as an awesome thing. I get to keep gaming on my console of choice with the controller I prefer and interface I'm more comfortable with and never miss an awesome game because of exclusivity. I bought a PS3 just so I could play Demons Souls when it was out and ended up with maybe 5 games for that system, which now sits in my closet. No offense to PS3, it has it's own strengths and PSN+ is the bomb, but I feel more comfortable with the 360. So if multi plat games are the new standard I say GREAT.
