racing games: manual or automatic?

so right i love using manual yet everyone i know always uses automatic and i'm like "wtf why" so i just needed to know.  i prefer manual because i like having more control over the car and it's just more fun. also because in foza 2 some cars are just impossible to drive unless you short shift. so i just don't get automatic. hell i don't even touch a game that doesn't let me have manual.

Automatic because its just simpler and more fun. I don't want to worry about shifting, I want to just focus on making the turns and out maneuvering my opponents.

You don't actually have more control, it's just a different control scheme.

yes you do have more control. different rpms have different power and torque.

I don't know about Forza - all I play is Need for Speed. And in that series, I don't see any difference between using automatic and manual besides making it harder.

You can always outrace an automatic player if you're playing in manual, even without adjusting the gear ratios. You just have a natural edge when you can cycle through gears on your own accord.

I just play automatic

I don't know enough about driving to know when to shift/etc, so I normally just use automatic.

I have tried manual, and it does have a slight advantage..
But i just can't be bothered :-(

too much work for this lazy guy.
i can barely drive a car in real life.
