Ok so, i have a genesis, which i just sold on ebay.
Last time i tried it was a few months ago and it worked fine, but i remember having some trouble gettin my tv tuned.
Now i cant get it working at all, when i put it to a channel i assume it would play on, and turn on the console, the screen changes to black and a few white lines.
The wires work as i use them with my snes.
Usin rf and cable.
Any help highly appreciated.
Sega genesis problems
"hey man. you are irish. Call it a mega-drive and say it with prideYarp im Irish, i usually call it a megadrive but wanted to appeal to the mass audience XD.
if your rf cables are ok then i cant really think of anything. is it definitely the same tv channel you used for it before
Yea im pretty sure it is the same channel, i read u have to tune in ch39 and that worked before, tried it again, and alot of other channels, i took it apart, cleaned some dust out.
Still no joy :(
screw it if i cant get it fixed ill send it anyway, its a game seller that bought it so they should know.
And to be fair it at least shows some life when i turn it on.

The connectors in Genesis units were insanely reliable, so it's probably not that. The 72-pin connectors in the NES were horrid, luckily you could easily change them out.
It sounds like a problem with the RF cable you're using.
Is your cable compatible with the SNES and Genesis?
This might sound like a silly question, but don't the SNES and Genesis have proprietary RF jacks? Aren't they differently shaped output jacks? How are you using the same cable for each? They might be identical for all I can remember, it has been years.
um, maybe, it fits in the genesisi is all i know lol. ill go look for more wires.
*facepalm....perhaps
If it fits they must share the same jack.
Do you have the old Genesis AV composite cables? Does your TV have a composite (yellow) input? If not, do you have a VCR hooked up to your TV that has a composite input? You could use that.
I doubt the Genesis is dead, those things were tanks. Trying the AV cable would determine if it's the RF connection that's the problem, and I bet it is..
i dont have the genesis AV's and yea i have a yellow input.
I think its time to venture into mah attic.
"Make sure to set up camera downstairs in case you fall through the ceiling in a comical fashion."haha yea, covered in spiders and old junk
i do that all the time anyway,
i just bought a megadrive AV composite on ebay, hopefully this: bustybecky18 will wait, hell with a name like that i might try an get to know her
