Hello all giant bombers. I am having laptop issues. About 20 mins ago my laptop started to make a strange sound that comes from where the fan is. The sound is sort of like a eletric razor. I would call HP tech support however they put me though to some women in India I can not understand. And when I asked for someone I could understand I was just connected to another women with a thicker accent.

Any ideas of what might be up?

Turn it off and check out the fan, something is probably in there.

ACtually, don't use it until you find out what's stuck in there. Or fix the fan. That's gonna do some bad stuff.

Hmmm, when this happened to me a few weeks ago it just made a unusual, constant sound. After a few minutes it just turned itself off. I am expecting it shut down from overheating, but I'm not entirely sure. I would say turn it off for a few minutes, then come back once it has a chance to cool down.

I'd imagine dust. Try opening it up and taking a hair dryer to that.

its more than likely this, just go to a target and get an air duster and blow it in to your computer were the fan is (be sure to follow directions!!)

Not being able to hear it, it could be dust or fur like everyone else said, or maybe something hard, and now it's no longer there or something.
It shouldn't affect the air flow, but it'll start damaging your fan if it's like that too long, well, if it ain't just dust or something.

And HP support isn't too great. Hell, tech support in general isn't. Dell is pretty bad too. Tech support is like a bad joke, the customers hate it, the people who do it hate it.

Ha, i called Dell sales to see what was happening with my order, 30 mins hold. And the damn thing put me through to the wrong line, it put me through to tech support, when i obviously called the Sales line. Dude with indian accent gives me a number and extension to call for sales. I call, wait for 30 mins, get a guy i can't understand at all, who gives me almost no informatioin, then proceeds to hang up.
