So I recently got a Wii and am curious what are the best Virtual Console games not made by Nintendo.  Of course we all know Ocarina and Super Mario Bros. 3 are essential but what about all the other stuff people never even heard of?  Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Um, Sin and Punishment was produced by Treasure. I personally think it would be a sin (teehee) to ever pass up that game especially since the only other way to play it would be to get a Japanese N64 copy through eBay or get an illegal rom.

Ah I found your topic somewhat confusing, non-nintendo implies PS3 and Xbox 360 and not the wii.

Hmm I would say.. That Goo Factory one was pretty interesting, check out some videos first though, I got bored of it after like 30minutes.

I would have to really recommend My Life As A King, I played a good 10-15 hours atleast  maybe more, its an awesome game! You play a kid king and you have a giant empty castle, you build different buildings like houses and and various shops, you get to choose where to place them and stuff so designing your citys layout is pretty important :) Then you get to recruit heroes from the different races from the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles universe, pick their class and send them off on adventures to different places.
Its not an action game, more of a strategy kind of game. Its really fun if your into that kind of stuff or wanna give it a try, but make sure to check out some videos of stuff before you get anything! Research first = Not wasting money.

I agree with Gunstar Heroes, excellent game. Treasure of course. I sort of enjoy Story of Thor, it's Zelda-ish but with combat that's more similar to side scrolling brawlers and it's simpler (except for the combat) and not quite as good... But it's quite cool for its time. I wish we got Saturn VC. Sure, a majority of games could not be emulated, or would be too large for Nintendo's service, but there are still awesome 2D games that would be a perfect match... Like Story of Thor 2, Radiant Silvergun, Silhouette Mirage, Guardian Heroes and others... Oh mai...

I actually did play Sin & Punishment via emulator before.  Probably my favorite Treasure game.  I'd love to see an updated version with IR controls but I guess thats what the sequel is doing.

I'm really curious about TurboGrafx games since I never even heard of this console until recent years.  I'm really excited to check out Ys Book 1 & 2 since I'm a fan of similar Action-RPGs.

@Xeiphyer: I mean non-Nintendo developed.  Obviously, you won't find PS3 or 360 games on the Virtual Console (although 360 has Live Arcade and PS3 has PSN).

Any Treasure game, and Gunstar Heroes is a very, very good game. Very good. If you haven't played it yet, I highly suggest it.
