If we consider a 2004 game "this generation", maybe. It's undeniable it has had a huge influence on the MMORPG genre, and still has to this day, but PC gaming hasn't had any distinct generations (other than text based, CGA/EGA 2D graphics era, simple polygonal graphics, textured polygonal graphics and hardware accelerated graphics, or possibly MSDOS era, Windows 3/4/9x era and Windows NT era), but I would think that by "this generation" most would mean the console generation starting in 2005-06 with the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.
