Did you mean "You are funny"? and if that is indeed the case then, why? I hope it's obvious to any person on this site that the next Xbox 360 would be called "Xbox 360"

When they release Natal, they package all future Xbox 360's with it and call the package "360 + Natal." The system and interface get a minor changes where the new name, 360, is used. This way, they drop the Xbox name and are free to call the next iteration whatever they want.

Two things: It has been confirmed that Natal is the unofficial name for the device, so it will be called something else. And why are they not free to call it whatever they want? Nintendo 64 -> Gamecube -> Wii

While they always refer Natal as being it's code name... they have used it way too much in public for it to be changed. They have used that name on morning news shows, late night television, and all press junctions. For an electronic device that is still being developed, it has had a lot of coverage. No way is Microsoft going to lose that brand knowledge by changing its name.
As for the Xbox name itself... it just looks like they painted themselves in a corner when they called their system the Xbox 360. While '360' isn't a symbol of numeric iteration, Microsoft's line of consoles just mirrors what Sony is doing with the Playstation: Keeping the core name (Xbox for MS, Playstation for Sony) and signifying each model with a number.
As for the next iteration of consoles for Microsoft...I'd say "Xbox" if they were feeling retro. Maybe Xbox 3 or something? Xbox 360 - 2? Xbox 720? Xbox 1080?
Wouldn't mind Xbox 3 or just Xbox though. Or a totally new name.

Actually, it was confirmed last week by a Microsoft executive, I think in conjunction with X10, that Natal's name will change. I don't think that point is debatable any longer.
Well, I'm not sure why exactly they'd want to depart from the Xbox name at this point. They could call it Xbox Future, or some crap, just with the Xbox name maintained. That's not too bad. They'd be free to call it whatever they want, they just need to place 'Xbox' behind it.

Not sure I agree that they've really "painted themselves in a corner", there's no reason that they strictly have to continue with the Xbox name. Nintendo only had two consoles using the "NES" naming pattern, then they deviated from that convention.
Having said that though, I'm sure they'll still stick with the Xbox name anyway. Maybe they'll call the next one Xbox: Console Evolved. Although it is definitely possible, if they really want to try to compete with Apple, that they'll go for something along the lines of Xpod 360.
When I first heard the name Xbox back in the early noughts I thought, what a sad name... but I'm sure I'll get used to it... ten years later, NO!.. It still really sucks. It's like "Games For Windows" how bland can you get Microsoft. They should buy Dreamcast off Sega, now that's a good console name!
Then they run into the same issue they hit which led them to calling the Xbox 2 the Xbox 360. They didn't want to have a console which was numerically behind its competitors. Subconsciously, people think that a Playstation 3 is better than an Xbox 2. It wouldn't be any different if it was a Playstation 4 vs Xbox 3.
Xbox 720, because when you see it you turn 720 degrees and walk away. But seriously, I bet it'll be something totally different and unexpected. I'd be surprised if they used a simple number. Maybe something like Xbox 3D, announced as 3D-ready (or some bullshit).
