Wrong forum.

Anyway, here are the top 3 reasons why I think it's the shit:

1. Awesome map building and physics alteration abilities for users. Especially the integration of different materials and custom pictures and things.

2. Incredible content sharing service that pushes user-created sharing to a whole new level.

3. SACKBOY AND SACKGIRL ARE ADORABLE.

I think it's the closest take on PC gaming we've seen on a console.

Create, share, and play. I don't think that's even been done.

It'll be a good game, no doubt. But game of the year? I think not.

It's unique, we haven't seen a game like LittleBigPlanet ever before on console (don't quote me on that). Being able to create whatever I want as a platformer is just incredible to think about, and then share it online. Then there's the other major factor of LittleBigPlanet, being able to play everyone else's user-created levels.

Just think of the fun that can be had by re-creating levels from your favourite games, or creating your own little world. I'm personally looking forward to creating my own little ongoing series of levels, linked by a short story. Cannot wait.

I also doubt it will be awarded GOTY by many places, but I think it will at least be a contender , its completely original and unique... and no console game has ever had this sort of open 'make what you want/try what you want' sharing thing in it, thats always been something only possible on a PC by modders and level creators for users to download,. It'll do great and get great scores I be,but I don't think GOTY.

When have you ever played a console game that you could create levels for?

Almost anything you can think up can be done (from a cartoon standpoint), and others can play what you've made.  Plus, the physics of what objects do when they fall or hit together is supposed to be pretty realistic.

Personally, it's the game I'm most looking forward to right now (I'm not a first-person shooter type of girl).

i know. as far as user-content sharing goes halo 3 has nailed it. still being able to create your own levels sounds pretty damn awesome.

I think you guys're all underestimating the ability of journalists to love something that the average gamer normally wouldn't consider that exceptional or exciting. LBP is one of those games. It's cute, and it has an awesome and fairly original idea behind it that will keep it fresh and playable for years to come. You'd be hard-pressed to say the same thing with any accuracy about any other games coming out this year.

Well, there's a lot of customizable feautres in the game and you can do such more. Graphics, gameplay, and everything about is great including the fact taht you can create levels and share with your friends. You can customize the sackboy to look like Snake from MGS etc.

LBP is nothing like Gmod! Sorry... >_>
Garry's mod is a 1st person sandbox editor where you place props and manipulate them.
LBP's creation tools in a way are built around creating props, as well as manipulating and playing with them. You don't play other user's gmod levels, because it is not a level/sandbox editor, it is just a physics sandbox. They are really different.

People who think LBP is a rip off of G'Mod are pretty ignorant in my eyes, and can't be considered real gamers to me. It REALLY shows that you know nothing about the game itself, or you are a LBP hater. If it really WAS a rip off of it, then at least ONE of the dozens and dozens of gaming sites, blogs, and other places would have reported the same opinion. Hell even people in communities like NeoGAF, or Kotaky and various other forums would have reported this opion. But that isn't the case, because most people these days know what the game is before talking about it.

That's the premise behind Blast Works and from what I read it's on its way to the bargain bin after being on the market for 2-3 months.  So, it's been done fairly recently, and no one really cared.

Little Big Planet could be a revolution in terms of user created content. However, if not enough people buy into it, it will be quickly forgotten...
It's worthy of the hype, but hype doesn't always translate into sales or a viable community. Even if it sells well, it could still fail to find the correct balance of those willing to create great content and those willing to put up with the fact that 80%+ of  user content will be crap at first.
Buy it, love it, and most importantly stick with it!!!

I HIGLY doubt it will be quickly forgotten. You wouldn't IMAGINE how many people out there would just create create create all day. Just look at a program barely any people know about, called Phun, and thousands and thousands have created UNBELIEVABLE things for it. Never underestimate the power of user generated content. :P

1. Its a platformer. A genre that is dear to many gamers hearts.
2. Its got a unique design and look to it that is all it's own.
3. Fresh new I.P. Yes gamers want new franchies as well as old ones.
4. Sack boys are cute. No one can deny their cutility.
5.  4 player co-op.  User created levels. Endless possibilities. Huge adventure mode.

What's NOT to love?

Everytime I log on to Warhawk and still see the servers packed with old and new players I smile knowing that the PS3 fanbase will dedicate itself to well made games. LBP is such a game.

Not to mention the studio will also be pushing stuff out. In a lot of cases though, by their own admission, it seems that the user stuff is more impressive than the user stuff.

I honestly don't know. Sure the game looks like it could be fun, but everyone is praising it as the best game ever. Also I have noticed a disturbing trend in male gamers calling the game "adorable" and saying things like "ohh their so cute!". You should all know that sounds incredible gay.

I think the hype is retarded

Its definately going to suck based on its main play style

"bu but you can customize anything you want ! ITS ABOUT BEING CREATIVE!!1 "

whats the point if its basically editing a mario level?

there is no depth to the game play , its just stacking garbage and putting stickers on shit

That's why every single preview, and person I know who have played it, myself included, doesn't think that at all. Not one person in the media or anyone who has played the game thinks it is a ripoff of Gmod, that just shows the stupidity behind thinking this is a 'RIP OFF' of that.
