Which of these systems should I go for?

Xbox 360.

I'm not including PS3 for personal reasons.

Out of the two, 360. PS2 was a great system, but I'd go with the current gen.

I'm devoted to getting both, but it's just that due to my budget, I feel compelled to make a choice between the two. I love 360 for the games available and recently, the PS2 just because of the Endurance run. I quickly succumbed to Persona 4's wierdness.

Playstation 2 is definitely a great system, but I'd say go with the Xbox 360 since it's current gen. and the games are better overall.  I'd actually say get both, if you can.

As much as PS2 was awesome, I think you'd be hard pressed to find some of the truly good games for it. Xbox360 has my vote.

There are tons of classic games on ps2, but get the 360 just cause alot of people have it, including most of your friends I presume

If you are looking for online play i'd say 360 (as well as current gen games) however if you are an RPG freak and are going to devoting hours into RPGs i'd say the PS2. Already own a PS2 and PS3 (with BC) and i'd obviously choose what I don't have which is the 360. However the PS2 (along with PS1 titles) is probably the greatest system ever released.

Xbox360, the good games are easier to find even though PS2 does have some gems, hunting them down is a bit of a bitch. Also, I heard somewhere that they will be discontinuing the PS2 games  down the line so I would stick with the current gen. The Xbox has brilliant online capabilities as well as an awesome library of games ranging from JRPG's/WRPG's to a whole load of FPS's and Platformers. It's also relatively cheap £150 for a decent one or £190 if you want the XBOX elite, just make sure you keep all warranty information incase you happen to get the Red Ring Of Deat (RROD) which is highly likely.

Definately both if you can afford it. Although PS2 is still my favorite console, I would probably still lean towards 360 at this point in time.

You should try to get both, PS2 consoles and games are very cheap and arn't difficult to get a lot of quality games for so I would make the PS2 my first choice. But you should definetly try to get a 360 at some point.

Xbox 360 with life insurance.

If you're really hard-pressed for cash, the PS2 would be a sound purchase. However, if you feel the need to take part in the current generation, go ahead a get a 360. Who knows? Maybe Persona 5 will be released on the 360. I don't know of any binding contract that makes it a Sony property.
