Troy Baker
Which Side Are You On: Nolan North vs Troy Baker
For anyone that has been putting different answers from Nolan North or Troy Baker...
The point is that Troy and Nolan both have very similar voices in multiple different roles, causing confusion amongst some people about who is playing the role. In turn, the point of this thread only focusing on those two was mainly about that and which side you take on it. In and of itself, however, the entirety of this thread should be taken as satire, since both are incredibly talented voice actors who have had massive success in this business.

You honestly can't hear any similarity in them on Saints Row 3 or even The Last of Us? Hell, even Booker DeWitt in Bioshock Infinite has plenty of times where the two could be confused.

I vote Troy Baker, however I think the only way to come to any true conclusion is to have a game where Troy Baker voices Nolan North, and Nolan North voices Troy Baker.
Sort of like a Face-Off Kind of thing?.... IM IN!
@jakob187: Nah, can't say I do man. They sound pretty distinct to me! When playing Red Faction:Guerilla, I wasn't thinking at any time that Nolan North's would appear in the credits under "Alec Mason." Similarly, I didn't expect "Troy Baker" to show up in Trauma Team as the main doctor.you have those backwards nolan is the guy from trauma team.
Has anyone else gotten to the point where they can literally recognize most major voice actors semi-instantaneously? Seriously. This website's obsession with Nolan North has actually ruined my ability to see the characters he voices and just see the dude in the sound booth, especially since I actually know what he looks like now. It's a testament to that man's range that I can't tell its him when he isn't using his normal Drake voice. The problem is that he pretty much always uses his Drake voice.
....That's what I said.@mutha3 said:

That's not really Nolan's fault, though. The problem is that producers specifically hire him for his "Drake voice" he's exceptionally talented, so it is a bit of a bummer.
I'm on TeamBaker now.
He's simply a better actor. Nolan can sell the easy going guy like Nathan Drake really well but anything more dramatic just doesn't sound right. He's still great with creating completely different voices like The Penguin or the personality cores in Portal 2. I don't know if this is a talent Troy has too but for the everyday man i like Troy Baker a lot more.
Edit: Actually Nolan was really good as David in The Last of Us. Maybe he can do more dramatic or darker characters after all. I suppose i'd still give a slight edge to Troy.
Baker for serious roles, Nolan North for ridiculous ones; both have played mass murderers; Nolan North is simply the crazy motherfucker version while Troy Baker is just the "yeah, so? I'd do it again; my survival demands the extermination of the rest of the human race."
You sheep! You deluded fools! You've been brain-washed by the awesome propaganda of two vile conquerors, and you are now being pressed into battle for a false cause! Troy Baker and Nolan North, I call thee tyrants! Tyrants of voice-acting!
The only way to resist is to join the one true force for justice, fighting for every man, woman child and kitten: Jennifer Hale.
All hail Jennifer Hale! All hail the One True Ruler of the land of video game talking, the Rightful Queen of the Voice!
Get bent.
@zeforgotten: FUCK YES
I'll keep my male voice-crush with Robin Atkin Downes, tank ya very mooch.
And I still stand by my assertion!
Also, I would advise we all keep an eye (or... ear, I guess) on Matthew Mercer. Guy has the exact same sort of qualities that's made Nolan North and Troy Baker so popular, so I wouldn't be surprised if this guy follows after the industry finally decides to close the Bakery for a while.
Damn, so many people know these names and I don't. I live in a cave.
Do you not play Video Games?
I like em both but I am tired of their default voices, they have more talent than Drake and Snow, come on game directors or whomever decides what voice they want, it surely isn't the voice actor as they would want to showcase all of their talent instead of going back to the well almost every time.
