Will the 2012 GotY be a downloadable game?

I don't think it will, but my GoTY is a downloadable title (Journey).

To everyone saying XCOM. XCOM is great but it's such a safe pick. It will be a travesty is XCOM easily wins.

I know my personal GotY is Journey, so I don't see why not.

I'm guessing they'll settle on XCOM. Unless Hitman is REALLY amazing. Either way, both retail games.

I think Journey is a bad game, it's just eye candy with no substance.

I'm really enjoying Walking Dead but the choices really don't matter in that game, they only seem to stick in each episode unless Episode 5 really kicks you in the teeth for choices from past games.

So far I'm split between AC3 and Sleeping Dogs. Been playing Xcom for a couple of hours and the missions already seem to be the same thing over and over, I might try starting again with Iron Man and it might make it better.

Well Journey and Walking Dead are going to be in my top 3, out of all the years so far this year seems the most likely for a downloadable GOTY.

I want to say yes with The Walking Dead, but XCOM seems to have an iron grip on it.

With this website you bet it's almost a 100% guarantee.

Giant Bomb's GOTY? Quite possibly, as both Journey, and especially The Walking Dead, seem to be strong contenders.

Journey won't win here. Jeff will make sure of that. I don't want it to anyways.

I feel like what will hurt the Walking Dead though is how little actual "game" there is to it. That's going to be the nail in its coffin and seal X-Com as the winner.

Unless they really fuck it up with the next episode tomorrow, I think Walking Dead is going to be my personal Game of the Year, with Mass Effect 3 being a close runner up.

The guys don't award GOTY "regardless of quality".

That's not what I meant, what i mean is no matter your taste or what others think of the quality of the games that will make the GOTY list i think those are the names that will be making the GOTY spotlight. Of course i was speaking in a general sense not just what GB will do. As it seems Xcom is a lock on GB others may fall short of GOTY like walking dead and journey so i feel my point is still valid.

Syndicate is my GOTY. And that's competing with Trials, Minecraft, and Dust.

XCOM appears to be the favorite, but I don't think any of those guys are crazy passionate about it.

Also, everyone saying Journey clearly don't remember how easily the crew can forget a game, no matter how good it is. (cough cough God of War III for best graphics cough cough).

Now that the final chapter of The Walking Dead is out, I expect calls for it to be GotY will increase.

It's most likely going to be XCOM but I'd like to see The Walking Dead or Journey win.

Man I wish they all kind of didn't forget about Dishonored. 

I love me some XCOM, but it has some weird ass bugs that I think should DQ it. Borderlands 2 is probably my favorite this year, followed by Diablo 3.

This year is wide open though, last year Skyrim was the obvious choice and I don't see that this year.

So far, Journey and The Walking Dead are the top of my list, so certainly.
