Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley are going to be a terrifying DT combo for the Lions for years.

This, a thousand times. It's... it's just not fair. I'm scared for most QBs who go up against the Lions for the foreseeable future. They're going to make for some damn good highlights, that's for sure.

Cardinals and 49ers both should have taken Gabbert. Falcons gave up too much for Julio Jones. Tennessee and Minnesota both reached for their QB's. Lions defensive line is really scary now.

And that's the draft so far.

Yeah, the Falcons gave up WAY too many picks to go that high up in the draft.  Julio Jones wasn't worth it at all.

The Saints still have some really good players to choose from:  Mark Ingram, Cameron Jordan, etc.

Mark Ingram is not worth a first round pick IMO. He had a great year in 2009, but all his other seasons weren't very good.
I might be biased though because I'm an Auburn fan :P

I grew up in Detroit, then moved to Chicago in my early twenties - so while I have been a Bears fan for a while, I'm extremely happy to see Detroit finally make some headway in the NFC North.

I thought last year was gonna be the year, but Stafford doesn't seem physically built to take hits.

He fits the Saints perfectly.  Just ram it inside and let the playmakers on the edge do the rest.

I'm amazed that Jerry Jones didn't completely screw up this year.  They needed a lineman and he actually picked one.

Well it looks like they passed on him and went with a defensive end. I mean they have a lot of depth at RB already. Reggie Bush and Julius Jones are fantastic if they can stay healthy.

I miss not having the Raiders massively screwing up a first round pick in this year's draft.

@CitizenKane:   I don't consider the football year officially started until the Raiders screw up a pick.  They avoided it this year by trading their first round pick.

I'm a huge Jacksonville fan so im glad they moved up to get Gabbert, I think he has the potential to be a great qb plus Garrard is starting to get old and what the hell were the vikings thinking by taking ponder?

The Vikings still think all they need is a QB and then they are back in the Super Bowl hunt.  I think this is the year they realize that they have bigger flaws than their QB.

I'm excited about Suh and Fairley. I was 90% sure we'd take Prince, but our D-Line is gonna be awesome.

@thatpinguino: Qb is a major flaw for the vikings. as  fan we needed a Qb for years now, Farve was only a short term solution. they are also looking at free agency as well

we need to bolster our secondary

as a packers fan, that front four is scary as hell. particularly with our RT issues. but out of all the other NFC north teams, i hate the lions the least. so good for them

@slightconfuse:  True but you have an aging defensive line, a need at CB, and I think we can all agree that Ponder was a reach in that high in the first round.

My Panthers took Cam Newton and having two other young Quarterbacks on the roster, it might be another long season. Good luck Cam, you're gonna play with the big boys now.

Seahawks picked a guy to improve the O-line, I'm very happy, the O-line has sucked since Steve Hutchinson left and Big Walt begun having injury problems.

As a fellow Panther fan, I'm afraid this is going to be another long painful season.

I'm hoping this whole Cam Newton thing works out, but I have very little confidence in the kid. I have a bad feeling that he's not going to be able to step up his passing game to the pro level, and I don't think he's got the intangibles to be a leader for this struggling team. I also wouldn't be surprised if he has off the field issues at some point.

Niners pick Aldon Smith.  Oh well, they do need a pass rusher on the other side, but I was really hoping for Amakamura.  We'll see if they look to a QB in the second.

Finally, the Lions are no longer the joke of the league! Nick Fairley and Ndamukong Suh are a pair of defensive tackles that are to be feared!

The lions have improved two positions where they were already good, they get Fairley which makes them great on the line, and then they get Titus Young who is great to have along side Calvin Johnson

Funny side-story to add:

With the 102nd pick in last weekend's NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns selected USC tight end  Jordan Cameron(notes) (at right). When the team attempted to call their newest draftee, they instead rang the number of Cal defensive end  Cameron Jordan(notes) (at left) who had already been drafted in the first round by theNew Orleans Saints.

Cameron Jordan was touring the Saints practice facility when he got the call on Saturday. Later, heexplained the mix-up to SI.com's Peter King:

"Hi,'' said the voice on the other end. "Jordan? This is the Cleveland Browns ...''  The call was for some biographical information.

"Uh, yeah, this is Cameron Jordan,'' he said. "But the Saints already picked me.''

There was an awkward pause, and Cameron Jordan said: "I think you mean Jordan Cameron, you're looking for Jordan Cameron. That's not me.''

And somewhere, an old writer on "Three's Company" gets a new idea for a sitcom. They could call it "The Jordans."

I'd like to imagine the Browns' caller trying to cover up the mistake by stumbling over his or her words and trying to act like they were calling Cameron Jordan for another reason altogether. "Uhhh, yeah, uh, I know who this is. [Long pause] We here at the Browns just, uh, wanted to say, well, congratulations for getting drafted by the Saints. [Click.]"

Cleveland eventually got in touch with Jordan Cameron.

Bucs defensive line is going to be great this year if they can keep everyone healthy.
