I actualy was thinking about this because I was wearing the same pair of jeans 3 days in a row now. In your opinon, what is the acceptable amount of days that you can not wash a pair of pants and still wear them without feeling gross? Me personaly i dont see a problem with not washing them for a few days, but when you hit about the 4th or 5th, no matter what, I think its time to wash them. Pants/shorts dont really show dirt that much unless their white, or atleast not as much as a t-shirt. So I think you are able to get away with not washing them for a few days more then you do a shirt. What do you think?

If you buy raw denim (it's what a lot of good designer / Japanese denim is nowadays) you're supposed to wear them for about 4-6 months before washing them.

I wear black jeans, I own one pair that I wash every time my laundry basket is full.  This can be a week or more between washings.  Naturally, if something horribly messy happens to them in the intervening time, I will throw them in the wash, but otherwise, they last quite a while.

2-3 days is what i think. Wearing the same pair of pants for more than that is unnecessary.

I think it depends on what happens whilst wearing them. If it's just normal business, I think a few days is fine. If you go rolling around in mud, or get manure dumped on you Biff style, you might want to change them sooner.

I wash mine every week, but I've definitely heard (from respectable sources) that you don't need to (and maybe even shouldn't) wash them except for every several months.

This depends on many factors.
A major factor, here, is whether or not you have a girlfriend (or in some cases a wife). If you do, 1 day is the most acceptable.
If not, it depends on how many pairs of pants you have.

i wear work pants, khaki cargos, at least 3 days, unless i get a colorful stain.  shirts, socks and underwear get one wear and then a wash. i don't wear jeans very often, so they may go a month or more between washes, but that may only be 4 wears.

I don't understand why some people in this thread feel creeped out by people not washing jeans for a few weeks. It's not like your jeans are touching your junk, and your shirts need to be washed because of your armpits. What reason would you have to wash your jeans after wearing them once? Unless they get a stain on them, or you fall in mud, there is absolutely no reason you should wash your jeans after wearing them once.

haha I agree. Been thinking about the same thing myself. But five days is the absolute most days. T-shirts is usually one day. Two at the most.

But hoods?

3 days. After that, it all depends. Personally, I'd wear pants for a week and a half, wear them in so they're nice and soft, but social responsibility makes me look at 4-day-old jeans in disgust.

i try not to wash my jeans too often because I find it really fucks them up, plus they look better when they're worn and not cleaned. And when I say that, I mean aside from any messes that you may happen to spill on them or whatever.

THE DEFINITIVE ANSWERS TO ALL QUESTIONS EVER ASKED:

Pants - They can go 3 or 4 days without a washing, but I usually wash after only two days.
T-shirts - Wear them once and then put them in the wash, you disgusting pig.
Dress shirt/polo shirt with undershirt worn underneath - Dress shirt washed after 2 or 3 days, undershirt washed after 1 wearing.
Underwear - For the love of humanity, wash them after one day or less.

BONUS: Wash your sheets twice every month, children.

Jeans? Every month maybe. But keep a lot of pairs in rotation.

My suit pants? Eh get 'em dry cleaned before I wear them, everytime. I mean.. I wear suits like 2-3 days a year, so it's not insanely expensive.

Other pants I tend to wash right away, but that's because if I'm not wearing jeans or suit pants, I'm probably wearing pants to work out in.

Anything but jeans/things with jean material after 2 or 3 days, for jeans never unless they actually get dirty.
That doesn't necesarilly mean you should wear them indefinitely, that's just bad style unless you're specifically trying to keep a single style.
