Hey dudes, I've never personally been to a rave but have always wanted to since I was 13 or so back in the late 90s. So apparently here in Houston where I'm from there's a "rave" going down at this one place and I was thinking about going since yea, I've never been to one.
So pretty much if anyone has been to a rave in the past five years or so are they fun? Of course my vision of a rave is what I've seen in the movies Go and Groove so are they pretty much that but more modern? If anyone can drop some info on what expect would be cool and also I read that DJ Jazzy Jeff is going to be there so, yea, it has to be awesome right!?
Are "raves" fun to go to?
They're hilarious. You won't remember it tomorrow, though. Every rave is effectively your first rave.
" Yeah, unless people are popping E around you. :/ Just watch out for the drugs and loose girls. "And go directly towards them....
My experience with a rave was not good.
Drank too much and had sex with some girl that had already slept with about 3 guys that night. I was off my tits drunk. Luckily didnt take any of the blue pills going around.
If you want to experience hell, then by all means go! >_^

This isnt the 1990's any more, people dont take lsd and dance with glowsticks...
these days its more about doing shots and boogie-ing on down.

Which I do a lot, and will never call raving. I'm not flipping out on E and wear stupid pants.
Shit's called PARTYING.
But I call it the ol' DnD (drinking and dancing). Nerd cred, what's up?
If you like loud techno and crazy flashing lights, yeah, they're fun. I'm not into 'em anymore, but they can be a good time. Never did any drugs at one either, though plenty of people there do.
" @GingerBear16 said:Yes, they're still like that. Alcohol at raves suck, after a couple of shots you don't have the energy to dance anymore. Which is one of the many reasons that Ecstasy and LSD are still given out almost free." @Bruce said:Btw, this was a joke. So fun! I dressed up like a lady and had sex with like 4 guys. The last guy so was drunk he didn't even realize my wig had fallen off halfway through.

Oh my God, this is so awkward.
"Glow sticks, white gloves, whistles, ecstasy and The Prodigy."In my Witchcraft Cookbook that is the exact recipe for blackbear repellent.
Never been to one but if it looks like your kind of thing then you will probably like it. I think I'd go insane.
Best one I went to was in Germany. It took me an hour to get from the plane to this mansion that had been taken over. 5 Euros all you can drink. I got my freak on that night!
haha rave. it came strong but dried up fast as well. 99 to 2004 in west coast around my enviorment. i dont even realize rave used to exist till someone mention in the internet! rave around that time is like internationl.... outside of usa is even popular! like in korea now its like it dont exist!

" @Myrmidon said:Eh, they would be fun for a while but I'd want to start stabbing people soon after. What???" All of the ravers I've met have been complete and utter morons. Of course, there may be a couple of moderately intelligent ravers but it's sort of a needle in a cess pit kind of thing. "
How can you not love candy kids???
They may be morons but,

A good rave depends on the music, the kind of people who like that music and the venue. Your best bet if ever unsure is to Youtube the DJs involved, see some of their live sets and you'll get a better idea.
After looking up some live Jazzy Jeff... I'd say it looks like shite, I wouldn't call that a rave. Bunch of Hip Hop and the DJ screaming. I can't deal with those crowds myself, too much attitude.
I went to Creamfields festival last summer, I'd call that a rave. I think we in Europe have more of an idea.
Never been to one, but from what I hear and see (from pictures) raves are totally not for someone like me. Loud, thumping bass-heavy music, strobe lights, 50,000 beads around your arms, pills, guys wearing stupid looking clothing, girls wearing little to no clothing, and just stumbling around in general completely disoriented.
