A lot of work that's released posthumously is largely ignored. What do you think is some of the best music released after the artist died? The reason I'm wondering is because Bad 25th anniversary edition came out with around 6 new tracks/demos and if you haven't noticed by my avatar, I'm a fan. The new tracks are great! Just as good as his other work and delicious to the ears.
Best Posthumous Song/Album Releases?
Like all artists, posthumous works normally turn out terrible when they're incomplete. There are some exceptions
A lot of the J Dilla psothumous production releases are pretty good
The Raekwon J dilla productions like house of flying daggers and 30 bricks were awesome
Nujabes 3rd album was pretty good too.
A few of the MJ releases were also good. Any excuse to hear the man's breath taking voice in a new song.

Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk - Jeff Buckley.
I dunno if it's the best, but there are some amazing half-formed songs on it. It could have been amazing I'm sure.

How did you find the song?
On another forum someone posted a montage video of sci-fi shooters (I didn't really cared for it), but the music felt grandiose and sounded like nothing else before. So I asked the poster about the song's name and performer in the comments and he replied.

Woods of Ypres - Woods 5 : Grey Skies and Electric Light. Shame that the mastermind behind the band didn't manage to see the release of this album because it is easily the best work they put out. RIP David Gold \m/\m/
are the right answers.
I do like the Woods of Ypres shout, from a metal perspective. But best posthumous release across all genre? Well gosh, this song is what pops into mind instantly
And of course there was this gem from Sam Cooke, a man who was a big influence on Redding
Those beautiful songs aside, Joy Divisions 'Closer' album came out after Ian Curtis had offed himself, Hank Williams Sr released a couple of singles after his death, including Your Cheatin' Heart which is a pretty great country-blues number. Oh & Janis Joplin's 'Pearl' album which is critically acclaimed is also notable.
And to go back to metal, the first thing that comes to mind is De Mysteris Dom Sathanas by Mayhem, released after the murder of Euronymous by Count Grishnakh. Oh black metal, how silly but great you are.
I'll throw down Morphine's "The Night." Their lead singer, Mark Sandman, had a heart attack while performing in Italy. What a way to go.
Johnny Cash's American V: A Hundred Highways is great. The version of "God's Gonna Cut You Down" I've heard used in various places and "Like the 309" is an amazing, fitting song for him considering it was the last song he ever wrote before passing away.
Pretty much my first thought :)Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk - Jeff Buckley.
