Same goes for anything really. No fun allowed.

Since I've been listening to a lot (and I mean A LOT) of Hotline Miami OST this week....I think the guy who did that and Daft Punk should do a mix album, would be fuckin amazing.

Same goes for Daft Punk and Kavinsky (the guy who contributed Nightcall to the Drive soundtrack). I'd love to see something like that.

I'm a firm believer the Tron Evolution movie would have been a insanely lesser experience if not for Daft Punk.

word on the street is 3.13.13- but nothing confirmed yet. but since it's essentially a teaser, one can assume it's coming.

3.13.13 for the actual reveal? Awesome. Three days after my birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! Goddamn, I've been waiting for this since the astounding Alive 2007. That live album was so good it hurt.

maaan- saw it live when they hit berkeley in 2007. i had seen that first coachella show from youtube bootlegs, so i somewhat knew what to expect. but when they busted out the encore with "music sounds better with you" and went all wire-framey...i almost imploded.

If I could, I would go back in time, kill you and take your place. That is easily the best live performance I've ever heard and really regret not going.

it is impossible to feel that way if you listen to 'digital love.' they combined 80's hair metal shred guitar with disco. WHO DOES THAT? DAFT PUNK.

Finally! I can't get into a lot of modern electronic music, what with their "dubs" and "steps". The music playing in the ad is more my speed. Gimme dat electro fauwwwnk.

Hopefully they can set some good new trends with the next album.

oh i understand! no need to explain being a curmudgeon- bring up purity ring, grimes, or twin shadow (all of which i'll admit to enjoying on some level) and i'll be the first to poop on the parade. but daft punk is just about the last musical act that can get me this excited. SO I'M EXCITED.

and here's the requisite gif (i don't know how to embed with the animation):

bring up purity ring,

LOFTCRIES 10MILLION VIEWS GOOD SONG BUT STUPID HUUUR DUUR VOICE IN EVERY SONG, CREATIVITY.

Considering I 'used' to disc jockey and S a lot of D, I pretty much hate to love music as a whole. People ruin everything.

But don't let reality rain on parades. I'm merely just projecting.

What arya some kind of peace loving commie son?

I think you don't need to take people on a forum seriously, whoever is posting in here is excited - sometimes the excitement is just thinly smeared between the I hate x and y should eat shit.

I love me some EDM man, chill bro. I love it so much I make it frequently, I love it so much I thought why YES, I will buy a crazy soviet synthesizer from the fucking late 70s and have it displayed.

edit: just posted around the world didn't you - you motherfucker. I've broken up with ladies who've said that is the pinnacle of the deaf punk.

my high school had an arp 2600 in very good condition. not stealing it has been the biggest regret of my life.

I own two CS-80s, a korg micro, korg radias, two Faemi-Ms (russian keyboards)

One of said Ruskie keyboards look like and they sound fucking crazy. I used to own a few others but university, cars and whores siphoned desire to collect them. They are super expensive.

#34 Posted by mellotronrules (1192 posts) -

@hawkerace: niiice. i actually haven't fallen down the vintage keyboards hole yet- i'm primarily a guitarist, so i'm content to blow all my money on obscure stompboxes i never use. but then again...i have been pricing mark 1's on ebay.

#35 Posted by Hawkerace (277 posts) -

Don't dew it bro. It the fun never ends, and considering analog is pretty much dead there is no reason to collect it except being one of 'those' types of people.

Good fun, can't wait for the album - though I will be avoiding the locals for months after its release.

Justice - cross is the best electronic album ever made and everything I've heard from DP was second rate compared

I should listen to Daft Punk.

I like electro music, a lot and somehow never really listened to any of their albums. If it doesn't have a video that played on TV on the music channel back when music channels used to play music i didn't hear it. What i did hear i liked though.

So yeah i should listen to some Daft Punk.

Hey I like Around the World and Digital Love and One More Time and... Bigger Faster Stronger Whatever, so if that kind of vibe excites you then by all means be excited, but that music isn't very different from the Pop music I put on occasionally for background niceness, my opinion is all.

i realize it's impossible to maintain any semblance of objectivity at this point, but you should give 'discovery' or 'alive 2007' another listen if you dig justice that much. obviously they're different- but there's enough common ground there where you might surprise yourself. but yeah 'cross' is DYN-O-MITE.

@pr1mus said:

if you have the patience and/or interest- this could be a neat place to start. it's the companion movie/anime to their album 'discovery.' and as already mentioned, 'alive 2007' is their live album which is pretty fantastic- but that might be better appreciated after you've had a listen to some of their stuff. i'm sure it works in a vacuum but half the fun is hearing how they're able to recontextualize all their samples into a massive live set.
