That actually comes as quite a surprise. He was talking about streaming more a short while ago...

Naturally I'll continue to track and follow him wherever he goes but I hope he can still come visit GB often and do streams/podcasts and stuff.

Seriously though, that's a great loss for Gamespot. Danny was such a great personality for the site. I've enjoyed his presence and all the work he did hosting.

One can only hope he joins GB official like in some way or other. Either way I am looking forward to his future endeavors. Thanks for all your work so far Danny!

Yeah I'm kinda not sure what Gamespot even IS these days. After the big old guard purge there weren't a whole bunch of recognizable people left, and now Danny being gone...I'm not sure whats going on over there.

Please be Giant Bomb. It matches a good timetable for GB on since Austin left to announcing the next person, and his personality fits so well.

Oh wow, didn't see that coming! Will be curious to see where he lands up... which is GBeast! He was there at NY to actually look for a place to live in and to fill in for Austin! If you freeze frame and enhance at 42:32 of the GBeast Minions Cup video you can see a reflection in his left eye that reveals all of this!

Good luck Danny, you are like the Giantbomb staffer we never had.

Sad to see him go, but I hope what ever he does next is awesome for him! It would be great to see him join GB as he fits right in with the other guys. Good luck Danny!

"Question: Do you like living in Oakland? All I know about it is what I've seen in sons of anarchy or on the news.. Do you feel safe living there? Or would you like to move somewhere else?"

"Answer: Yea I love it here. It’s cheap but really pretty. There are some rough parts of Oakland, but it’s mostly pretty safe. I live in a super safe part of town with a lovely lake, diverse neighborhoods and good stores around. I really like it here. But myself and my wife are also considering moving to the east coast in the not-so-distant future so this probably isn’t where we settle down. I mean, you can’t. For as affordable as our rent is, buying a house here is impossible."

It would be a shame if he didn't do something that would leverage his background in covering video games. I know he used to do web design and obviously he can do some production work so it will be interesting to see what comes of this. He was Giant Bomb's favorite adopted editor.

I am really going to miss him on there. I hope I can continue to watch him covering games somewhere. Giant bomb east? Either way I would watch him anywhere.

Godspeed Danny! I can't live without that glorious irish accent. I will follow him wherever he may go.

Considering they are still around even after losing basically their entire team at one point (Alex, Vinny, Ryan, Jeff, Rich, Greg, and others) I think they'll survive.

Man that's a crippling loss for Gamespot. Not a terrible surprise given the crossroads his life seems to be at personally and professionally outside looking in.

Danny is perhaps the best voice in Gaming Journalism of his generation and he does it without having to resort to gimmicks/jump cuts etc that many of his talented peers seem to need. I slefishly hope whatever he does we continue to get his perspective on the game industry.

Danny is 100% the reason I gave Gamespot a second chance after 2007 and I'm glad I did as there are some great ppl there now (Mary, Alexa, Peter Brown, Erick Tay, Zorine Te among others).

All I can say is thank you Danny for all you've done thus far and I wish you the best in whatever is next.
