Fuck, these past few days I've been getting a few friend requests from relatives. I don't want to accept them because I feel it's fucking weird as shit if you have relatives that are older than you reading your stuff. Cousins or family your age I feel is okay. You may say, "Just reject it," but then I imagine it might be awkward in your next encounter with them. Maybe I'll just block all of them...
Do you guys add them?
Do You Add Relatives On Facebook?
I have some relatives as my friends, but I'm not very close to them. Don't really care if they read my stuff.
I don't send invites or anything to them, but if they want to add me as a friend, I'll accept. That's about it.
I had my dad and mom added but they sort of abused it by literally commenting on everything I have to say, whether its the embarrassing "I love you" from mom to lectures from dad. =/
... I removed both of them. :3 I did add a few of their friends though since they're a lot less obnoxious.
My facebook policy: If I get an email consisting of a friend request from someone I don't know, delete it. If I know them, I accept it.
I never use Facebook anyways, what do I care?
No way! I only keep people on Facebook that I don't talk to all the time in "real life". My brother is the only one who has one, but since I live with him I don't add him!
I don't believe in Facebook, the idea of a social network I mean. Facebook is real, but it's not a social network. There's nothing social about sitting infront of the computer hoping that there might be some post you can comment on, or that there's something interesting in your life you think others would be interested it. To which people reply... 'How do you arrange stuff' to which I reply
'You did it just fine before facebook, but I suppose I'm popular enough that if people want me to come they'll invite me in real life, not in some guilt ridden check through friends, seeing your sad face lurking their, going I'll invite hopefully they'll decline, but within minutes you accept.'
And secondly... NO ONE CARES, NO ONE CARES THAT YOU HAVE SPAM, FEW PEOPLE EVEN CARE IF YOUR DUYING. Out of your list of 500 friends, <1% would even notice if you died. So tell me this why do you care, their statuses mean nothing, never have, never will. Why bother? The majority of statuses are placed just to prove ones self worth, but eventually both you and them will come to the conclusion that the like button is a mear, 'I read it button'
I hate how the media, facebook have turned HUMAN EMOTION into something so trivial, a like button? I don't care if Saly and Alex are in a relationship, sure I'd like to have boned sally, but do I care. People spend far too much time reminising about the past, far too muh time planning their future that they'll miss the here and now. Too many people will blink and miss a wonderful life they could have had.
ALSO, THE WORST, ABSOLUTE WORST POST OF ALL TIME IF THE 'OFF TO BED' it is the single most selfish comment in the universe, be decent. Photos have become a perverse way to brag. Does no one have ACTUAL fun anymore? Or does that now require showing people what you did and they didn't?
EDIT: I'd like to apologize for my rant, I'd like to apologize if I offended you. I am stating my views, without reservation, due to tiredness, and an exam. Under normal situations I wouldn't have posted, I'll leave this up as some shame thing for me. sorry.
Nope. Only ones that I am legitimately friends with in real life or that I actually hang out with... which luckily enough is just about all of them. But there are a few and boyfriends/girlfriends of some relatives that I won't add because I really have never even met them other than just an introduction...
I add them, then block them from viewing just about everything. With a bit of luck they don't notice
I only add family and relatives on Facebook.. its friends I don't add, we you know, call each other.
I add my family, I mean, why not? I always forget to call so it's really the only way they know I'm alive... even though I rarely go on anymore. They e-mail me to contact me because my phone doesn't work in the majority of buildings on my campus =P My friends know how close I am to my family too so... yeah. Also I don't have anything to worry about, my family ultra chill so nothing phases them anyway.
" I add them, but put them in my "Family" group, which is set up so they basically don't see anything I or any of my friends post. "That's a really good idea.
I'm the only person in my family on FB, so no worries here.

"dude... slightly off topic. read the question again
on topic: well they all sent me friend requests and it would be kinda weird denying them
also most of my family thats on facebook is italian... so they
don't understand most of the stuff im writing
I don't use the site, so no. If I did though, I couldn't care less if they were on it or not. I don't lead a secretive life and there is nothing I would post on a site like that that would be weird. It's not like it links to my porn collection or anything. If I actually did update a site like that with my daily life it would pretty much just look like this every day:
- Eating breakfast now. Toast and peanut butter.
- Watched a movie on netflix. It was ok.
- Just had a glass of water while I played "insert game on steam list".
- Eating dinner. Was too lazy to make anything so I just had toast again. This time I used cheese whiz to spice things up a bit!
- Played "insert game on steam list" again.
- Eating supper now. Might watch a movie when I'm done heating up a can of soup.
- Stopped watching the movie half way in. Wasn't as good as the trailer made it out to be.
- Playing "insert different game on my steam list" with a friend of mine. Probably going to go to bed after.
- Turns out I didn't go to sleep.
- Sleeping now. Wait, how can I type this update if I'm sleeping? OH NOES! I'M SLEEP INTERNETING! I think this is my subconscious crying out for help...
See, not very interesting.
i'd like to say this is the best comment I've ever seen in regards to Facebook. Spot on and hilarious, thanks, I needed that :)" I don't believe in Facebook, the idea of a social network I mean. and in regards to adding relatives on facebook, only cousins and brothers I add. Mum, dad, aunts etc.. fuck that
" relatives are the only reason I have a facebook account tbh so yeah I do, but if you are putting retard shit you and your mates do drunk maybe not so much "Same here. I have less than 30 people in my friends list on facebook, because I only want people who matter on there. Over half of them are relatives. All my siblings are on there, and many of my relatives who are from around the world are on there. Most of them I have never met before, but thanks to facebook, I have a way of communicating with them and get to know them. And as far as people saying "I don't want my parents or older relatives to read what I post". Well then, you guys aren't honest to your family. If I say something stupid, I stand by my stupid. But for the most part, if it's something I wouldn't say infront of my parents, then it's something I shouldn't say at all.
Lord no. My parents still think I am this pristine, pure person. If they saw the profanity I use on a daily basis on Facebook they would probably shit their pants and then get into a domestic dispute over who led me down such a path.
I only added my closest cousin, but even then.. i limit what i share.
I don't really want my sister to be posting all over my wall every little tidbit she finds funny, or messages about my parents. Also, i'm sure she plays Farmville etc, and don't want that crap cluttering up my feed. : /
