Yes. I go to college but I want to save money.
Do you live with your parents?
Yeah, I lived on campus my first year and I'm commuting this year...it's not bad as my best friends are still nearby
Yeah, but I'm in high school. If college works out the way I want it to, though, I'll be living here for my freshman and sophomore years too.
Yes.
21, go to community college, unemployed. Looking for a job, and in fact I'm going to call a place back tomorrow and see if I can convince the manager to give me a chance. Anyway even when I go to a different college, maybe DePaul, I'll probably be commuting by train everyday to Chicago. $1,200 for a year of monthly train passes is much cheaper than $10,000 of dorm residency. Also I don't trust Chicago. Everytime I go a black guy tries to help me and starts to ask me for money.
Once I graduated from college in Colorado, I moved in back with my parents back in August 2009. Just now found a job that allows me to move and afford to live on my own. It's a hard economy dawg, especially with an English Degree.
If all goes well, I'll be moving out in January with a friend. I just need to get a job so I can pay off my second semester fees come 2011....
Anyways, I do. I just turned 18 though and since I stopped caring junior and senior year, I'm going for another half a year of high school.-____-
" Yes. My school is a 10 minute drive from their house so it would be a waste of money to live on campus. If I change schools I might have to move out but for now it looks like when I'm done school I'll move out of the house. "Same scenario with me. Seemed better to save all my money when I'm in school.
For the time being yes, only because my basement apartment flooded 3 weeks ago, thankfully i will only be hear for another 3 weeks >_>
Not since I finished my undergrad. I was glad I stayed with them through four years of uni--I was definitely NOT mature enough to handle living on my own then. But after that, I was glad I picked a school outside of the city for grad school, forcing me to move out. That was the right time for me. I probably stayed a year longer than I should have, but it was fine, and my relationship with them has never been better--since we don`t live together, whenever I do fly home to see them (albeit not very often as I now live thousands of miles away), we have a good time, cause we know we don`t have enough time to spend fighting otr anything like that.
I do miss the home-cooked meals and having all my bills taken care of, but again--for me--it`s a hit I`m happy to take for being independent. Plus, I don`t know how girls are goingt to feel if I tell them, `so, want to go back to my room at my parents` house?'
For those who are itching to move out and can't/can't afford to, you'll get there someday; enjoy the time you have at home now and get spoiled while you're there! Knowing your family's having salmon en croute for supper while you're microwaving frozen foods isn't the best feeling in the world!
This is all just something for the younger ones here to look forward to when they move out. :)
The cost of living is through the roof where I live. So even if I wanted to leave (and trust me, I do) I can't.
My mom died in 2005, but yes I'm living at home with my father and I hate it. I have been stuck here for the last 5 years because I can't find any work. The thing that pisses me off the most is that even if I could have got some $9.50 an hour minimum wage job I could have all my student loan paid back and be debt free by now.
Living at home I wouldn't have had to put any of my pay check towards food, rent or bills so I could be putting around 1k+ a month towards paying it off and be done in a year or two. Obviously I would take some of the pay to buy things that I wanted from time to time, and to give something to my father for letting me stay at home for free, but still that's a lot more money going to pay off a debt then if I had to take $700-$900+ a month out of my pay check for living expenses if I lived on my own.
