I started posting on 4chan recently and I wanted to know if I was the only Whiskey Media guy who did. I know 4chan has a terrible rep with the internet community, but if you find the right boards with the right people you can actually have a decent discussion on there.

4chan has a terrible rep for good reason.

To answer the question, hell no. I'll peak in there time to time in a more voyeuristic fashion but that's as far as I'll go. When I was 13 I would of loved 4chan though.

I thought the whole idea of 4chan was to not know who is posting.

/b/ is largely responsible for the terrible reputation. I don't frequent it anymore, but the interest-specific boards can be quite civil.

No, 4chan is butts.

#6 Posted by falling_fast (2190 posts) -

fuck no.

the only other forums I post on are somethingawful, the questionable content forums, and onrpg.

#7 Posted by Belonpopo (1823 posts) -
@Matfei90: When you get past most of the trolls, which are pretty (obvious on most boards), that's  true, but /b/ is fucking hilarious.
#8 Posted by BaneFireLord (2913 posts) -

Urg, hell no.

#9 Posted by Beforet (2912 posts) -

I try not too, but sometime I'm bored and I'm on /v/ and I'm compelled to reply, what of it?!

Saying that /b/ is the only section where awful shit gets posted is being naive. It's less frequent in other sections but still omnipresent. It's still a largely adolescent user base. As an adult I feel no need to subject myself to it.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

#12 Posted by HandsomeDead (11863 posts) -

When I was about 15, yeah.

#13 Posted by CookieMonster (2416 posts) -

Nope.

#14 Posted by dungbootle (2457 posts) -

I used to for a long awhile, but then I realized that the community was terrible and could only get worse.

#15 Posted by metalsnakezero (2288 posts) -

OP, what are you talking about?

I don't see where I said /b/ is solely responsible. Largely. Of course you're not going to avoid the delinquent behaviour when you're right next door to it. I didn't imply anyone should be compelled to subject themselves to it either - I'm now in the same boat in that regard.
#17 Posted by Everyones_A_Critic (6289 posts) -

Yeah, I lurk /b/ from time to time if I need a good laugh. There's a lot of funny stuff on that board, but every now and then....

#18 Posted by ds8k (412 posts) -

God no. I went back a few months ago and managed to last five minutes before being disgusted by the people there. It's devolved into nothing but LOLMEMES, and that is not funny.

#19 Posted by thevigilanteoflove (504 posts) -

Look? Sometimes, sure. Post? Never have, never will.

#20 Posted by iam3green (14390 posts) -

people are anonymous for a reason. i go there from time to time look at stuff and get quick answers. i got a work out with dumbbells from /fit/. i go to /v/ sometimes when there is isn't anything to talk about here.

#21 Posted by Dynamitekyle (530 posts) -

/mu/ and /v/.

#22 Posted by GunslingerPanda (4646 posts) -

A little bit, mostly when I'm bored. I tend to stick to /x/, /v/, and /a/ since I don't like the kiddie porn that gets posted on /b/.

Never.

#24 Posted by the_red_mage (146 posts) -

Lurking yay. Posting nay!

#25 Posted by Vexxan (4616 posts) -

Not even once.

#26 Posted by Slaker117 (4835 posts) -

There was like a year where I would occasionally poke my head in to see what was going on, but I was never a regular, and I definitely never posted. That place is weird.

#28 Posted by mangomonger (67 posts) -

i lurk around that part of the internet sometimes. Also the rules of the internet says that we cant talk about /b/, with good reason.

#29 Posted by ervonymous (1297 posts) -

/v/ is usually on top of the latest news. It's just another site on the internet.

#30 Posted by ShockD (2393 posts) -

Learn the rules of the Internet, OP.

Rule #1 - Do not talk about /b/.

#31 Edited by I_smell (3925 posts) -

Isn't 4chan that paedophile site that's only bully-victim kids and miserable broken adults taking advantage of each other?

#32 Posted by dyong (331 posts) -

Absolutely. 4chan's a treasure trove of just about anything. The funny thing about /b/ is that it keeps the topical boards honest, by making those users despise /b/ users and encouraging them to post better content. Traditional games, comics and mecha are such joys to sift through.

#33 Posted by natetodamax (19177 posts) -

Absolutely not.

#34 Edited by KarmaPoliceman (143 posts) -

I frequent /mu/, post fairly often. Also occasionally visit /v/ and /lit/. The trolling and meme spouting is a minority (well maybe not in /v/), and once you get past that there isn't many better places on the web to discuss specific things.

#35 Posted by oatz (1103 posts) -

/fit/ is the only worthwhile 4chan board.

#36 Posted by Jasta (2217 posts) -

Nah mate.

#37 Posted by Mr_Skeleton (5138 posts) -

Hell no.

#38 Posted by SlasherMan (1725 posts) -

Nope.

#39 Posted by uniform (1832 posts) -

I used to use the site to see a collection of interesting desktop wallpapers. I then found out there's a site that basically has every wallpaper you see posted on 4chan.

#40 Posted by valrog (3671 posts) -

I... have been there a couple of times. Science and Mathematics board is not so bad. I see hilarious stuff from /b/ once it gets filtered by the other parts of the Internet so I don't have to experience all those monstrosities since chances that I come across an epic thread are slim, anyway.

#41 Posted by norenewalfee (108 posts) -

I don´t even get 4chan... just don´t get it

#42 Posted by SkylarTrace (118 posts) -

Nope the site is a trainwreck that is filled with creeps.
