I was heavily involved in a 450 page creationism-evolution "debate" that made the forum's (another forum, not this one) database go sketchy and has made me permanent enemies on the Internet. They no longer allow any discussion of said subject on those forums. Which is fine since ostensibly the forum is for ESL teachers living in Korea and I was getting pretty tired of trying to be rational in the face of mind-numbing, blind adherence to dogma anyway.
Ever been wrapped up in any forum drama?
I only got into one major flamewar, and it was really stupid. I wrote a review for a TV that I bought from Best Buy, and this other guy on there obviously disagreed with me on several points. He then decided it would be fitting to call me an idiot, and several other nasty names. I didn't respond in kind, but things got a little heated. Since then, I tend to tread lightly in forums. Nothing is more aggravating than fighting with someone when you know you will never win because the internet is the ultimate un-inhibitor. Oh, that and I had someone threaten to hack my computer when I was trolling a vampire fan fiction chat room back in the day. I have no idea how that one got so bad so quickly.
I think if I did I would probably stop posting online, because life is to short to spend your time caught up in internet drama. I have gotten into a few arguments though, and I'm an infamous last word freak, so those went on a long time, but I think there's some value in arguments.
I was banned on the Elder Scrolls forum for suggesting that someone should be shot. With a gun. In my defence, it was entirely in jest, lacked any drama, and the ban was unjustified.
I debate a lot, on other forums, but not dramatically. It's all in the name of education and enlightenment.

Never.
No? Then... Can you sticky this thread again?
My first experience with forums was when I was 14 I think. Never had a lot of drama on that one but when it got shut down and I had to move on I started getting involved in some (Admittedly I've been the starter of some of it in the past). This is the first forum I've been active on in a while so I've tried my best to avoid it.
Wouldn't call it drama but I have been banned 3 times and given more warnings then I care to remember.

When you've been on the internet for over a decade, you'd be lying if you said no.
That is true. Well I was in EPIC drama, as far as internet goes, in the forums of DEFAULT, an alliance on Dark Throne. From paladin of the alliance to conspiring to destroy it, undermining it from within in a war that occured between DEFAULT, which was the biggest alliance of the game, an several smaller alliances. One of the ways I used to undermine it was flamming in the forums, in a time where drama was present everyday there. After the war I was eventually banned. Good times! ahah

I don't think I've ever been to a forum where there isn't some kind of circlejerk going on. I had some disagreement with a mod when I was 12 or aroundabout, I just ignore the stuff now.
For as many users as we have here, it's nice to have pretty minimal forum bullshit.

I used to be in a clan on Ghost Recon (actually won a pretty big league, got free copies of the crappy Ghost Recon 2), I must have been around 13 years old and I insulted some idiots on a forum and they threatened to track me down and break my legs, started harassing the mods for my IP address.
They were all 30+ years old. Lol.
I can't wait until I am 30 and can start breaking 13 year old kids legs over a post they make on a video game thread.
By that time you can probably click a .exe with your mouse and have the kids PC break the kids legs for you@Sooty said:

I've started two wars with ComicVine and Giant Bomb. One resulting in Tony following me for calling out Sara.

thanks to the fucking climate i'm always arriving at arguments late, it's usually when all of you are in bed. like right now.
Duder, Giant Bomb forum drama was soooo yesterday.
i was on some forums years ago when i was younger, pissed off some guy, i didnt even say anything bad. he pulled the whole internet detective thing and attempted to ruin my life, the relationship i was in, tried to get me fired, ect. it was nuts. now im extremely careful what info i put online. my facebook page that i only have because my friend nagged me to make one, is completely blank. im not filling that shit out.

What?! What are you even talking about?! I dispute your assertion that climate has literally anything at all to do with time, or when one arrives at arguments on the Internet. Also, how dare you presume to know when anyone here goes to bed? For starters, I'm not in bed right now.
I managed to get myself banned from Kotaku like 4 yearish ago I think. In retrospect I'm totally fine with that XD
Have I been? I can't particularly remember, but probably. I've certainly acted like a dick before, and regretted it.
In fact, I did indeed have a minor one. I argued with a guy who claimed Katawa Shoujo was the worst game of the year, based off the first 30 mins. It didn't last long, but I can recall seething anger at such shallow opinions.
Apart from that, my forum life is happily beef-free.
i was involved in forum drama at a forum i never even posted in. i had been posting videos of the champions online beta to youtube, so the people on the beta forums decided it would be a good idea to post my personal information in threads as some kind of witch hunt, getting them locked/deleted by mods.
after that their community manager requested i take the videos down, so i did.
Yes, on the forum for a really bad game I played some years ago. I pointed out that the economic model was stupid because it made sure that people who had previously won tournaments had a higher chance of winning tournaments again which could potentially snowball into a situation where only tournament veterans had a chance at winning. I was banned, and the upgrade is still specific to people who win tournaments.
Edit: Also on metal-archives, I wasn't banned but I got into a pretty huge argument over the exclusion of Iwrestledabearonce. My opinion on their music doesn't matter to the discussion, but they're not listed on the site basically because the admins hate the band. I think that sort of bias is bad for a site that's trying to be a wiki for metal.
Mostly the feminist/equality debates.
Ocassionally I will get into some 1v1 brouhaha and get worked up to the point where I throw my hands up and call someone an asshole. In two cases, they apologized or cleaned up their tone to the point that I had to respect them and apologize myself. Which is something I would not have done as an aggro little teenage fuck a decade ago.
@RPGee:
Oh, yea. I remember that guy. It was pretty clear he hadn't played the game at all, holding opinions that didn't relate to the game in the slightest.

first off, your ingenious username sent me into fits of laughter which are now present in the form of "tears", due to my deficient creativity and abundance of exam laden memory. and secondly i was referring to the regional aspect of "clime", and as far as my 'filled-to-the-brim' brain goes, regions impact time, or so i have been lead to believe.
look, i'll level with ya, i just blurt nonsensical things outwards in a recurring vowel sound, and people make sense of it all. or don't. but that's never the case, because of the (fucking) "climate". hah hah ~lame ass wink face~.

you see that little "x" in the top right hand corner? you do? good. click it. and leave the vicinity of your computer and never darken my door again.
@MB: Did he follow through with it? Are you a ghost now?
I post on a small forum that over the years has been home to some questionable characters. They all inevitably get banned, but some of the internet drama they can spark is always a little depressing. It's the internet, guys, chill.
