Lord of the Rings, Halo (especially Fall of Reach), Harry Potter, The Demonata.

Lolita. Used to be a huge Catcher in the Rye guy, (Salinger is still my fav, and I'm an English major!) but I grew out of it after I realized the true point of the book -- even if Salinger himself didn't realize it.

The Unthinkable Thoughts of Jacob Green, Shutter Island, Creepers.

Inheritance cycle (even though it is a Star Wars rip-off) still well done books. Halo: Fall of Reach, Animal farm.  Roald Dahl short stories (especially Lamb to the Slaughter)

The Inheritance Cycle is a brilliant read.

Nineteen Eighty-Four is pretty awesome.
