Just wondering.
I'm writing books for kids and teens, and want to know books you guys read when you were growing up and still remember fondly.
Any that are listed I will check out and read if I have not read them before.

For me, Animorphs/goosebumps, books by Bruce Coville(Aliens ate my homework, etc),
Harry Potter, etc

What about you guys?

I'm going to go a little bit younger and say the book about the lady swallowing the fly, then she ended up swallowing other animals and then dieing at the end.

Does anyone remember that one? I looked like a complete weirdo trying to explain it, tell me I'm not alone.

Goosebumps for sure, which then became the nightmare room, or something like that... great books indeed.

When I was a kid? I'll need some age groupings specifically. I would be loading you down with a couple hundred titles :-/

i loved Harry Potter when i was younger, but as i grew up i started to hate those. I guess i've never read any kiddy books, my favorite was probably Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne which i read when i was 8.

I love(d) the Hardy Boys and the Judy Bloom books Tales of the Fourth Grade Nothing, SuperFudge, and Fudgemania, as well as her book Then Again Maybe I Won't.  They're some of my all time favourites, even today.  When I got towards the end of Grade school (when I was 13 or 14) I started reading Michael Crichton, and still do.

Animorphs was the mad note. Most underread kids series and underread sci-fi story of all time. It easily competes with any other major sci-fi property in both depth of the world and depth of the characters.

I never got into Goosebumps the way other kids did, I liked the ones I read though, especially the early ones.

There's a very under-the-radar kids series called Ghost Twins that came out when I was 10, only went for 8 books but it was awesome. You should definitely look it up if you're looking for some background reading.

any and everything by roald dahl. i can still pick anything of his up and read it now, which i cant say about a lot of other things.
went through all the goosebumps as a kid as well, and you just reminded me that i actually own a bruce corville book, 2 actually: my teacher is an alien and my teacher fried my brains [had to go drag out of the bottom of the pile, but its still there]

i used to have have all the thomas the tank engine books as well, but they all got carted out to the new kid in the family whenever anyone had a baby

my book collection now pretty much consists of dahl, king, joyce, burroughs & a few autobiographies thrown in to boot

Well I did start reading Kurt Vonnegut when I was like 14 (Slaughter House 5 was Fantastic) and Ayn Rand when I was 15 (The Fountainhead was fantastic as well and I'm currently trying to finish Atlas Shrugged). But of course I also read the Goosebumps books, who didn't?

I remember the Little Critter books when I was little, as well as Berenstein Bears, Dr. Seuss books, and stuff like that. When I got older I also loved Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl, the Supernaturalist, Heir Apparent, Lord of the Rings, House of the Scorpion, and The Ear, The Eye, And The Arm.

Indeed. I loved the ones where you picked where the story went. I miss those books. "Turn to page 86 if you jumped in the airplane. Turn to page 90 if you didn't."

Well, it all depends. As a "little" kid I liked See Spot Run, and as a rather "young" child I liked quite a lot of different books. Don't think I could really pinpoint one for sure....

I remember reading King Solomon's Mines, although that was probably more around the early teenage years.  I was always big into adventure stories.
