Do you happen to know a band that you think is awesome, but sadly they aren't very known? Post about them here and one of their songs. Maybe we will be able to discover some new bands.

I'm gonna say JohnOssi. They are a Swedish band made up of two people. Because they are only two people they have no bass in their songs. Here is my favorite song by them:

I can't really tell what's not well known, in Australia we're so culturally isolated we don't get many of the bands US and Europe do, just the pop trash like Lady Gaga. Maybe The Sounds?

Might as well give up now, cause you can't out-pretentious me. I listen to air, and I don't mean the electronic duo Air, but the atmosphere surrounding us. Some say it's not music, but I say they're just not listening. They're probably trying to listen with their ears, haha, hearing is so last millennium. I lost mine a long time ago. Real music is about sensation - you feel it. The best songs are the ones that put the air inside you.  Last night I was listening to bike pump in my leg by Rhinoplasty and it was so good. I wanna go see them live. It's a real event, like totally crazy cause everyone has a bike pump and they're all pumping their legs with air. It's participatory like no art form before it. My friend Susan listened to air-filled syringe in the neck by the post-pump band V^ and is totally in the hospital today. It must have been so awesome, I'm jealous of her. I don't think I'm ready to listen to a track that hardcore yet.

Dude, that Johnossi is awesome! Thanks for the recommendation.

I really think that John Frusciante's solo work is under rated:

   The song starts at 1:35

Mew is also totally awesome, Harmonix's own Alexis Navarro have even recommended them:

Say Anything. They release one of the greatest pop punk albums of all time followed by two great albums and yet the biggest draw they get to a show is 2,000 people at the most.

Manchester Orchestra. There an awesome indie band who should get more exposure.

Moving Mountains. A great indie, post-rock band who creates great atmosphere in there songs.

Brand New. Sure they have grown a following but most people I talk to have never heard of them which is sad since The Devil and God is easily one of the greatest albums released in the last 10 years.

Not sure how big they are in America but nobody in England has heard of Tonight is Glory:

I'm not too good at describing music but i'd describe it as post-hardcore in the vein of Motionless in White only with less clean vocals, who again, could be completely unknown.

Going in a completely different, we have Grendel who are a big hit on the industrial scene from what I can tell but are too trancey for the tr00 rivetheads and too heavy for the pillpoppers.

Shellac, also known as The Shellac of North America - Steve Albini's (Big Black and Rapeman) sideproject. Also, Big Black and Rapeman would deserve much recommendation.

My favourite band right now are Sonic Boom Six, don't think that they're that known. They're a Punk Rock/Rap/Reggae/Ska band......written out that sounds terrible but they do it very well. They have some very good remixes of their own songs too.

Remix

Other songs to check out are Bigger than punk rock, Monkey see Monekey do, The Rape of Punk to come, and Nothern Skies.

yeah..
I really try to give such a thread hope, but we are all different and what some may post as epic that should be recognized, you might see as complete shit.. its frustrating IMO.

Anyway, even though Opeth are very well known, they should be loved and recognized more..

I Monster
One of my all time favorite bands.  Odds are you have heard their music in commercials, but you probably never heard of the band. Also they do the song that plays during the opening credits of Shaun of the Dead, says my avatar.

Fishbone, their songs are everywere. Movies, adverts and such, but not many people actually know of the band themselves.
Doesn't help that every album has like a completely different band-cast though, can make it harder for them to be recognisable.

Christ its hard enough trying to find videos of theirs that can be embedded even >=/

The Bird and the Bee, they do it for the lulz, sometimes:

"Polite Dance Song", video directed by Eric Wareheim, bonus points if you know who he is. Featuring one of the best dancers that ever lived.

Caspian.

They're an excellent Post-Rock band that, while not reinventing the genre, have refined it to its epic, minimalist essentials. Just put out an album a few months back that's worth checking out, but their previous effort, "The Four Trees", is definitely the album you should look at.

Circle takes the square. Please. More people need to be aware of them, and support them, so they can make the time to finish that damn second album!
