Today most of us listen to music with english spoken lyrics, no matter what country you are from, or what language you originally speak.
I thought i would be fun too see what people from other countries think of example music with swedish spoken lyrics.
Is it that important to totally understand what the song is about ,
or can we just like the music cause it´s good in it´s own right?
I´ll start with posting a song from a swedish band called bob hund. They have been around for about 20 years. This song and video is from 1996.
It would be fun to hear what people, who do not speak swedish, think about the music. Is this a band you could listen to even if you do not
understand what he sings?
Please, post music from your country in your native language! It would be nice to see if i´ll like it.
Non english music- Can you dig it?
" I enjoy music with foreign lyrics. I'm never super focused on the lyrics in a song, anyway. It's more about the melody for me. "Ozone?
Ye, i listen to alot off music that isnt in english, if the song sounds good, i dont really care what language its in :)
(mostly japanese music)
Is it that important to totally understand what the song is about
Not at all, after all there are many people around the world that listen to all genres of music, despite not understanding language it's sung in. You can still find pleasure within all music if your able to ascertain the emotions conveyed, not just in the vocal tones, but also elsewhere in composition.
@RE_Player92: What Japanese bands do you listen to? I used to listen to a lot of Japanese ska and punk, which is pretty great.
@AlexW00d: Envy is pretty awesome.
I know a LOT of people who only like music they can sing along with. To each their own, I guess. But it would be pretty difficult to sing along to a song which is in a language which you can't understand. Numa Numa is one song which I can think of which rose above its language and became popular across the globe.
Yeah, I don't care what language the music I listen to is in. Most of the time I prefer foreign songs.
Anyways here's a band from my city:
Probably wont be so exotic to you, since it's in Swedish :P
I pretty much only listen to Japanese and Korean music at this point. The only English-language bands I have respect for nowadays are Muse and Snow Patrol.
Japanese-wise, I'm listening to Do As Infinity, Younha, Hirai Ken and a couple of anime soundtracks/songs by seiyuu right now.
On the Korean front, I've only been able to get into 2AM and CN BLUE.
my tongue is arabic and i also speak hebrew. i despise music in both languages
English has the greatest music by FAR, and i dont mind me some European metal (finnish, swedish, german, etc..)
Yeah i like listening to bands that have foreign vocals. I know some good Japanese and German bands, i have no idea what they are singing about, but they sound good.
@VictorK: Have to be honest here, didn't really care for that song. Overall sound is just too goofy for my taste, nothing to do with it being Swedish.
Lyrics are a big thing for me, but I can enjoy music even if the lyrics are in another language. Also, I quite liked that Bob Hund song.
As long as the music is good, it doesn't matter where it's from. Lyrics aren't that important to me anyway.
" @RE_Player92 said:Fuck yeah Envy's awesome" I listen to a lot of Japanese music. "Envy, naww'm'sayin'? "
I love music regardless of which language the vocals are. In fact, not knowing what they're saying is often a good thing as bad lyrics I can't understand won't prevent me from listening to a catchy song.
Since everyone else is doing it, my turn to link a song!
I used to listen to a lot of Japanese music and Spanish music in different genres but kind of got over both. Couldn't really give an informed recommendation though.
The only non-english music I listen to is Rammstein, and I love their work. I forget it's in German sometimes.
Lyrics tend to be important to me, so mostly I listen to music that's sung in either English or Finnish. If there are any lyrics, that is.
