Question about getting a bank loan...

I need atleast a $4,000 bank loan, problem is I don't know how to go about getting one.

What are the requirements you need in order to get the loan?
Do you have to pay the bank back monthly, yearly, every three months?
What's the average rate for loans?
Do you have to be 18+ to get a loan?

Pretty sure you have to be over 18 to get a loan.

With the way the economy is working now, you can be a white guy in their 20s and still can't a loan.


But in the off chance that you do get a loan, prepare to pay a buttload of interest back. You'd better off getting a loan from your parents, aunt, uncle etc.

 For any type of loan you need to be at least 18 years old

You definitely do...and getting a $4000 loan is the last thing you should be doing when you're a kid.  I assume this is for a car - get a job and save up $1500 and buy a piece of trash car like we all did when we were kids.

I don't know how old you are Austin, but let me give you an advice related to getting a loan. When you get to college, take a class called "Personal Finance" or something similar to that. Find a good teacher and become a sponge, you'll learn all kinds of stuff that in my opinion should be taught in Secondary (High School). If you can find a similar class in High School, go for it.

You generally need some sort of collateral (an item of at least equal value such as a car or a house in case you can't pay the loan back by the time it's fully due) and a good (perfect) credit score. Interest is usually something like 6-12% a year depending on what type of loan you're getting, and payments are usually monthly. If you're not 18+ you need a cosigner such as a parent or guardian (you'll probably need one anyway for the collateral if you don't have a proper job yet).

But yeah, ive never personally gotten a loan for anything before so i couldnt help you out much on how to get one. But i would advise you to not get one unless you are super rich and have a really solid way to pay it back.

Pretty much all of those things will depend on the bank/specific loan, except for the 18+ thing. But either way, getting a loan isn't a smart thing to do, especially in the current economic climate. You might get made redundant the day after you got the loan and be without a job, and then you're in serious trouble.
