"Don LaFontaine, the man who popularized the catch phrase "In a world where..." and lent his voice to thousands of movie trailers, has died. He was 68. LaFontaine died Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from complications in the treatment of an ongoing illness, said Vanessa Gilbert, his agent."

I wonder who will take over for him doing trailers? Since many people of the past few decades have gotten used to his voice in the trailers.

Wow...all I can think about is who is going to replace him, and if it's even possible. I hope they don't just use some guy who can impersonate him well because it's never the same. Time for a new era of trailer voice-overs I guess... RIP LoFontaine.

As cliche as he was, trailers will be very different without him. I hope they find someone who can either do an exact impersonation or sound totally different.

That guy had an awesome voice; unlike some people, I actually pay attention to who does the trailer >.> I'm a bit of a movie buff.

Good point, an imitation wouldn't do him or the trailers justice no matter how good they were.

Now we are condemned to the horrible movie trailers.
Rest in peace, may you be in a world where you are happy, and, you still have the same awesome voice.

So long Don. Over the years we had our ups and downs, me praising you for delivering your blessings to a great film by doing the trailer, and vice versa, convincing me to see some pretty weak films, but still: We'll all miss you buddy.
You're up there with the big man now, pitching your own "In a world where..." for the first time. Make it a good one ^_^

RIP

Frank Caliendo can do a pretty solid impression of him too, but it'll never be as good as the original... R.I.P, Don.

"In a World......"
"This SUMMER!....."
"This Fall..."
"Double the Excitement....."
"One Man......"

You may not recognize the name Don LaFontaine but you DEFINITELY know the voice, and may also be one of the most recognizable voice in the world.

THE VOICE of movie trailers for almost 30 years HAS BEEN SILENCED.

My favorite voice-over by Don. Terminator 2 Trailer

If you ever wonder who will replace him? then watch this video....

D.L.F still king.

Bizarre. People we 'know' but don't know, leaving this world always seems so surreal.
