It is a very entertaining film with a tried and true tale. The effects alone are worth it and I really loved it. ( shameless plug for my review...here)

I think a lot of people are bothered by the pretense. This is a very self serious story, and its also a joke of a story. And I guess that makes the movie easier to hate. But I mean, shit, Ed Wood was deadly serious and you can still enjoy his movies, even if its for reasons the director didn't intend. "
...Good point. Admittibly, the movie didn't take itself too seriously sometimes. IE: The horsetraining and the knife fight.
@nywt: I just saw the movie yesterday and it was pretty awesome. Loved the effects. The fight sequences also kept me engrossed. Plus, the jungle looked cool in the nighttime with all the glow effects! And yeah the CG was unbelievable
