So what does everyone think about Kitty Pryde?

Her video and song with Riff Raff is actually quite good but she is quickly devolving into a web of internet memes and high school semantics. But honestly what else can you expect from a 19 year old girl with well off parents that got attention from the internet.

She is cute (very very cute) & "Orion's Belt" with Riff Raff was my jam of last summer, but I'm pretty over Kitty Pryde at this point. Nothing going on beneath the surface to keep me around. She's like cotton candy- fluffy & sweet & cute but ultimately it's just sugar at the end of the day.

I think the mix on that song is really weird, in that you can barely hear her.

Fuck I came in here ready to talk about what a dick Colossus was for cheating on Kitty Pryde during the Secret Wars event. Instead I got to listen to a shitty song with the most obnoxiously obnoxious repeating beat and lyrics that just sound like incoherent rambling. This is not good, but hey that's just like my opinion man.

I kind of liked it. Still disappointed this thread wasn't about Shadowcat though.

In the same bucket as Kreayshawn, and Chippy, ad Riff Raff, etc.

One song will get people hooked and nothing they make afterwards will be as good as the first song... Kreayshawn still can't touch, "Gucci, Gucci"

As a Floridian I made the special effort to go see her play at a local venue just to boo her off the stage. I'm also one of the few that have gotten to boo Kreyshawn off the stage. Basically you can say I'm doing God's work here.

Thats all kinds of fucked up... I won't support it, but I won't condemn it either.

Usually when a song is mixed in such a way that I can barely hear the artist, it has to be a pretty good beat to get me to enjoy it.

As the best word I can come up with to describe the beat is "droning", I think I'll pass.

I tried listening to her other stuff. All I can say is this whole hipster type rap is just not for me (Three Loco excluded as I think Milonakis is a genius)

Also, that song wasn't good, and it wasn't bad in a good way, it was just plain bad.

I only like hiphop from the early 90's. At some point along the way the majority of the people doing that style forgot that, even though rap is a spoken word style, it is still music and must still play in conjunction with the instruments. These days most of it seems to be talking according to no tempo in particular over a drum beat that never changes. Which sucks.

That's horrible. I don't care what you think of her music, that's not right. She's just a kid and by all accounts, seems like a nice girl.

I like Kitty Pryde to a certain extent. Clearly not as much as you but she has a couple of good songs. This one has some mixing problems but I liked the beat and may listen a couple more times to see if the lyrics are any good.

One of the best things in the underground rap scene may be quite a stretch though

she's cute and that's about it.

More of a light hearted boo so that they got the point not to linger so the next act would come up. With Kreyshawn it was a "I hate everything you stand for" kind of boo.

She raps about not being into brands with that first hit she had, then she shills for a bunch of brands in the chorus.

Ehhhh...she's a cute redhead so that makes me wanna like her, and she's got decent flow but I'm not a fan. For my money Nova Rockafeller is where it's at for adorable white girl rappers.

Real bold statement there, but to counter that, there are still artists like Killer Mike, El-P, Action Bronson, Danny Brown, A$AP Rocky, Macklemore, Joey Bada$$, & Big K.R.I.T. who are more than worthy to carry the torch.

Then again, I don't know of any legitimate rap fan who equates Kendrick Lamar with the death of rap, so maybe Waka is more your scene.

That's very possible, I didn't know they communicated through Twitter. Or maybe just talking her music up got her attention? They're both Bay Area locals, I think, so I wouldn't be surprised if they knew each other in some way. Either way, Chippy Nonstop is teeeeeeeerrible! I think she came through my little college town not too long ago, I wonder how that went.

I really don't know why this whole thread isn't counted as Youtube spam. You had a good write up but in the end - all you really showed was a video. And no I don't think it was any good, her voice isn't strong enough and there's no melody.

I see what you are saying, but there are genuinely talented rappers out there. It's just, as with most music, you have to look for it because it doesn't usually hit the top 40 playlists.

Not too impressed with the track overall. Too me she was really quiet and hard to hear and I would rather not listen to it again, but I do like her voice. I like more DMX big voice shit. Kreayshawn was hella fun too, but I don't see Kitty being the next Kreayshawn. At least, not with this song.
