  Yesterday I emailed Microsoft support for a problem I've been having my my Xbox 360. In this email I informed them that my XBLA games were not working properly, about half of my XBLA games (old and new) don't detect that I am connected to Xbox Live. I have tried re-downloading them, but it does not fix my problem.

I understand that you are having an issue loading your full version game and tried re-downloading it but has the issue. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

 

Bruce, as you have mentioned, if you are loading a downloaded game to another console, the game will revert back to trial version. It has something to do with the license of the console as to where you originally downloaded your content.

 

Thank you for your time and understanding.

The reply is poorly worded, and did not even address my problem. I told them that my problem was with games I downloaded on my new Xbox too. This is probably the worst experience I've had with customer service in a while, but at least it makes me laugh.


(P.S: If you have any ideas as how to fix my problem I would appreciate it.)

You have to transfer the licenses rather than re-download the games I think. I dunno, even though Major Nelson clearly explained it on one of his podcasts it's still a bit of a grey fuzzy area.

Try phoning them directly on a weekend, I hear they have american call centre on the weekend. Go through it with them they might be able to help a bit better than an indian call centre email response, more worthless than a canned response cut/pasted from a FAQ imo.

Edit: Also, I thought this post was going to be about Grim Fandango. I was misled sir, grossly misled and I will see you in court.

What is it doing? Signing you out of LIVE when you load up the game? Or is the game not loading at all? What's happening?

I'd still try MS support on saturday and see if you can get an American on the phone who you can communicate with properly though.

I'm still signed in to Live, but the Xbox Live components of the game (ie: leader-boards or multiplayer) don't work. It's an interesting problem, no one seems to know how to fix it.
I'll probably give them a call later.

I've heard of this a couple of times, try recovering your gamertag i'm not sure what fixed it last time I heard about it, but if it's not license transfer, try revocering your gamertag and see if that works.

If I were you, I'd just make sure you get a list of all your games to re-download & reformat the Xbox drive & start over.  I've never seen nor heard of this kind of issue before.

@ParanoidFreak: I had that problem too when my 360 got back from the shop...RROD...I had to go online on the xbox.com web site and transfer my licenses  to the new one.
