Much better than I was expecting and I was expecting something pretty good.
I've read most of the comics and I'm glad to see that there is enough deviation from the source material that it looks like it is going to make the characters more interesting than they are in the comic. I like the comic a lot, but I'm glad to see that the show is going to flesh the characters out much more with their history and own personal stories.
What did you think of The Walking Dead?
I liked it, but the main guy's wife cannot be killed and devoured horribly by zombies fast enough to make me happy.
Edit: I've never read the comics or anything. I'm just hoping it happens.
Kinda started off slow for me. Reminded me kinda of Shawshank Redemption with how the story and characters just grabbed a hold of me. Will definently be watching this series.
I expected the show to be good and it totally delivered. The pacing was pretty much perfect and I am happy that they're doing there own thing with the source material, but still keeping it fairly similar to the books. When I first saw the title of the episode 1 I was almost scarred that they were going to do 1 trade per episode, but I also just found out that the "season" is only going to be 6 episodes long, so I'm guessing it'll be 3 episodes per book and then they'll move on from there. All i know is that I'm all in and interested to see where this goes.
I hate gory horror flicks and I haven't followed the series at all, but after all the hype surrounding the comic's transition to the screen I gave it a watch.
The characters definitely grab me (except for Rick's wife who, as @Make_Me_Mad: stated, cannot become zombie chow fast enough!) and there is a nice methodical pacing.
So, I have a question for those that have seen the show:
It seemed a little clumsy, and took me out of the moment a little.
That being said, I can't wait for the next episode this Sunday (US). Aside from cable, is it streamed online somewhere? Hulu is only going to carry the first episode apparently.
For a pilot episode, it soared where the Eagles dare, or whatever the hell that saying is.
It definitely kept my interest and entertained me, but I'm wondering if they'll go off in a different direction than the comic book. I'm not looking for a panel-by-panel retelling, as I've seen it before. That said, they did a fantastic job realizing the world and the characters. I look forward to seeing the show develop.
I thought it was pretty darn good, but casting is where the biggest problem is going to be for me. Especially the Rick's partner, Shane. He doesn't even remotely give me the vibe of the character; but this is just my opinion. Everything else was spectacular I thought..
