Well I'm 17 years old and I want to leave Australia. I was born here, lived here all my life but I don't think this country is for me. I'm a christian and I believe in following the law, and *every* single person I've spoken to all have gotten drunk prior to 18, a lot have smoked weed, or smoked tobacco prior to 18 thanks to fake IDs, some even have done ecstasy.... (there was even a 14 year old girl who took ecstasy often) and overall, the people I've interacted have done a ton of illegal stuff. It really annoys me that every single person I've spoken to has done one of those illegal things here in Australia. Also since everyone seems to completely disregard the law and just loves doing anything illegal, I can't fit in anywhere because all people want to do is go to parties and get drunk (illegally)etc. It's pathetic and its just so sad that no morals are left in this country. Anyway, I understand all countries will have this stuff nowadays, but are there any countries wherein some people will have the same views as me? Having some(extreme) trouble finding any here in Australia.
A few surveys done here in Australia, showed that 94% of 14 year olds have had at least 1 drink. 97% of 17 year olds said they got to the point where they'd consider them selves DRUNK in the PAST WEEK. That means over 97% of people by the age of 17 would've drank at least once.
Plus, career opportunity wise, there's not much here in IT/Video games industry.
And everyone here in Australia seems to hate on religion...so many militant atheists, attacking me unprovoked.
Anyway thanks for reading.
Which country should I go to?
I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to drink in the first place, otherwise he would have tried to get into it already.seems a bit extreme to want to leave the country? your almost 18 anyway, you'll soon be able to enjoy a drink with your friends so why not wait?
And yeah, all these party animals is why I sometimes view the world as retarded.
Just wanted to clarify that... Please keep the suggestions coming.
Basically this. You just described the whole world dude.
This thread is cute in the "aww he still thinks the whole world is full of upstanding role models and rainbows" kind of way. Who cares if people drink/smoke/shoot up, it's not like they're forcing you to do the same.
People like you still exist?
You should probably move to a rural area 100's of miles away from civilization and live by yourself if those are your standards for people. Doesn't matter what Country.
@NTM: It's ok to drink once you legally can. I don't have any real intention of beginning at 18, but if someone waits till they're 18 and then decides to drink in moderation at 18(but not before) thats ok then. Just wanted to clarify that... Please keep the suggestions coming. Why does it suddenly become ok at the age of 18?
Stop hanging out with shitty people and everything will be better. Also I don't know you but you sound like a way too strict person try to loosen up a bit Jesus wouldn't mind.
Move to Singapore. IIRC, they have the some of the strictest laws in the world, and the some of the harshest penalties for breaking them.
Come to UtahIsn't that where all the polygamists hang out? Oh wait, is that Texas now?
Anyway, I don't think it's as near important as where you live as much as it is who you socialize with. If you keep running into teens who's activities alienate you, then find other teens to hang out with. I find it hard to believe that every minor in Australia is a drunk pothead.
Did you create an account on this website to ask for moving advice? Also, Australia sounds great from the way you described it. If you want Christian strict, move to Texas. But people get drunk and do drugs here too! :o
If drugs and underage drinking aren't your kinda thing, then the US definately wouldn't be fun for you. Oh and even though Portugal has a lovely language and culture, they dicriminalized literally every drug you could think of so it wouldn't be your idea of good time either.
To all of you guys saying the whole world is like this, sorry but it's not. Yeah, a lot of people are like this, and maybe the people in your circle of friends are like this, but that doesn't mean everyone is.
Yes, there are people still hold the same views as you, even in Australia. Maybe not around you at the moment, but they do exist. You just have to look for them, and that's gonna be true for any place you move to.
Even though this is an obvious troll topic, that;s the stupidest question I have ever heard. And it isn't illegal to drink alcohol under the age of 18. It's not even illegal to buy alcohol under the age of 18, it is illegal to sell it to minors though. So you're 'friends' aren't doing anything wrong.
AND you claim to be a Christian, but Christians take communion and they encourage children to regardless of age, so you need to stop being a Christian too by your own logic.
Perhaps Singapore, Terhan or Pyongyang might be good cities to look at...they're all very law and order type places.
You might also want to look at VERY rural areas, those tend to be more tolerant of the religious types.
But seriously, why don't you just worry about you? If you think drinking is wrong simply because it is illegal..then don't do it. Don't help other people do it. If you don't want to do something, then don't. There are plenty of other tightasses out there, you're not alone.

Does everyone do drugs? Because the alcohol thing slows down for a lot of people once it's legal, because it's not as cool. They still do it, but not nearly as much.
