I rarely watch anything except AMC, HBO and Comedy Central.
Who here even watches TV anymore?
I stopped watching free-to-air about 10 years ago. I could not stand their screwing around with time slots, repeating over and over in the middle of a season and especially ads within shows - you have ad breaks to advertise your shows. So I went to satellite for about $60 a month. That was good for a while, but ads have become more increasing and ads within shows is getting worse. Plus, I really hate networks that put in big ads during the credits (where the credits are muted and shrunk),
The fact that television is losing its audience is due to its own behaviour. They deliberately do stuff they know annoys the consumer because they figure we are a captive audience - we are not.
For many a year now I do not watch television whilst it is actually on. I record absolutely everything to a hard drive, remove the ads and watch it at my discretion. The good ones I put to disc to watch later as well as keep. It is like listening to radio - I hate ads and commercial announcers. The only radio I listen to is the government youth/alternative station - no ads and new music.
At the moment I am watching American Horror Story, Awake, Newsroom & The Tudors. There is plenty of good stuff to be watched - on my terms.
I haven't watched TV in years, and I'm better for it.. Oh gee, Television.. Nothing but endless garbage interspersed with continuously repeating commercial breaks. Fun.
I haven't listened to Radio for the exact same fucking reason. Garbarge music, mostly commercials, and some douchebag DJ spewing bullshit whenever there isn't some product being hocked at me or they're changing Nickelback albums.
Football is about to start, so I will, but I haven't in months. Not even on the internet. There's just so much other stuff.
I have my tv hooked up to a coaxial outlet, and it seems to work, so I get the basic channels for free. I buy Breaking Bad, Louie, Archer, and a few others on Amazon and can watch them on Amazon Instant Video. I hate Comcast, but unfortunately they seem to have a monopoly on internet service everywhere I move. So I'm stuck with them in that regard, but at least I don't have to put up with their shitty TV service.
I watch the TV mainly for Mythbusters, Beaking Bad, Hell on Wheels, TSG Presents World's Dumbest, Most Shocking, Most Daring, and COPS.
AMC shows, classic sitcoms, and movie channels are all I really have it for. Just started Breaking Bad a couple of days ago on Netflix, so when I'm caught up (I'm finishing up season 2 already... yeah, I'm hooked) there's another thing I have cable for.
Also, insert obligatory "I don't even OWN a TV!"

You sound like these guys.
I still watch cable TV regularly. I enjoy reality TV shows like Pawns Stars, Little People Big World, Hoarders & Wife Swap way more than I should. Plus, I like watching Conan and reruns of shows I would never bother downloading.
Edit: I also watch alot of ESPN.
I pretty much don't watch any form of TV altogether. All I'm interested in is on HBO/Showtime (don't have it) or is on the net as the Japanese dub of an anime. Or it's Breaking Bad, which I'm not caught up on and have four seasons to watch on Netflix.
The only things I use cable for are The Walking Dead, Top Shot, and the occasional sports game. I would have watched Breaking Bad on cable this season (watched seasons 1 - 4 on Netflix/Amazon Instant after season 4 ended) but I missed the first two episodes and figured I may as well wait to buy it on Amazon Instant when it comes out.
tv is pretty much on from me waking up till i go to bed. i may not be 100% paying attention to what's on, but it's on.
Yes, but I can't get any services that can replace regular cable in my area, so that's the main reason.
Also I do end seeing some interesting programs randomly, when looking through the channels, that wouldn't happen if I had a TV On Demand service...
Er, once in a blue moon I'd dip into the local channels I get from the antenna just to see what ze masses are up to. Other than that I just play PS360 and Amazon Instant Video.
The only thing I watch on tv is college football since I haven't found a way to get it on my pc yet. Everything else can be found easily enough on the internet.
I'm surprised how the average American household can watch so much TV a day. I think the estimate is like 7 and a half hours? Our TV of a year and a half clocks in at about 1200 hours, and there are a lot of times where we leave the TV on but don't watch it for a variety of reasons. Typically, your average American family would have watched 4000 hours by this time.
With that being said, I maybe watch TV an hour every couple of days, simply because there are quite a few shows I like that come on. But not that often, really.
Everything Internet. Everything. Haven't had cable for a good couple years now. Unfortunately, I completely missed out on the Olympics because NBC is evil.
I watch Breaking Bad and that's pretty much it. I also really got into Comedy Bang Bang and Bunk when that was on. I mostly use Netflix, podcasts, or video games to distract myself.
I do, then again my parents pay for cable and they are not yet up to the internet. I definitely prefer watching a television because finding certain episodes are difficult on the internet. I still have not watched the last two episodes of mad men and I probably won't ever until it comes on netflix or a dvd release.
Man, for better or worse, sometimes the Giant Bomb community can seem like one of the most hipster groups of people in gaming. It's really amazing.
Sure I watch TV. It's still a nice thing every now and then. Nice with the family. And when you've got kids around, having something that can possibly entertain them or encourage them to sit down with you together for a few hours is fantastic. Netflix and videogames certainly have their place, but television still serves its purpose, as well.
@Shakezula84: I think it's been almost 8 years now that I've last watched actual TV that was broadcast from a TV station. I can't watch any TV show or movie on TV anymore because since I live in Germany, I'd be forced to watch it with horrible dubbing all the time (plus: months or years later). This is not an option. I live off of the internet and DVD/Blu Rays now in terms of TV programming that I actually want to watch.
I have zero desire to go back, even without the dubbing.
SBS in Australia, it's free and it has awesome non-hollywood movies on all the time, plus intellectually stimulating documentaries. If I had an apple TV and a disposable income I would buy tv seasons, starting with breaking bad.
I actually haven't really sat down to watch TV in several years. Tend to spend most of my spare time with games, books and the internet. I only watch a few specific show; e.g. Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Supernatural. Everything else on TV I don't really bother with. And I never just put it on and flick through channels.
I watch tons of television. Not live of course. It always makes me laugh when people say there's nothing good on TV, and then spend all their time watching bullshit reality shows.
Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Justified, Suits, The Borgias, Hell on Wheels, Alphas, Newroom, etc. Television has never been better.
If you want to talk about what sucks right now, look at the state of Hollywood. When's the last time you saw a really good dramatic movie?
