Who Should Play the Joker Now?

Now the Heath is gone, who's going to take up his role as the Joker? I'd say either Johnny Depp or Joseph Gordon-Levitt should take his role. Johnny Depp is really the only actor who could at least match his performance, and can likely deal with the pressure better. Joseph Gordon-Levitt looks almost exactly like Heath Ledger, and since he's never really had much of a chance at showing off his skills he may be able to pull it off.

I really don't want the Joker coming back. Ledger did such an amazing job and I think no one can top that. Besides, the already switched Rachels from Begins to The Dark Knight and that role change wasn't very good.

I agree that the focus should go on another villain.  We now had two different (and each good in their own ways) Jokers in the movies.  There's tons of other villains that could be done.

Nobody. They should write the Joker off, because nobody will be able to match up to Heath Ledger.

I don't think the Joker should be in the next Batman movie.

No he's not. The Joker is one of the central characters in the Batman universe. They're not going to just omit a main character out of respect for an actor.

nobody should. but i dunno, heath seriously did a great job with that role, it was fully fleshed out and totally believable. every little nuance in the performance was excellent. but i am beginning to suspect that its not as impossible as i first thought it would be to match that performance. 

no one, Nolan will not have the Joker appear again.

I'd rather this universe of batman end than have a replacement for Ledger. It's not even out of respect, it's just that the comparisons will kill anything the new actor comes up with. If a third movie arises, it should probably move forward with the assumption that the Joker is in a cell somewhere.

i cant wait for the dvd release so we can get some behind the scenes info and perhaps deleted scenes (alternate ending perhaps)

Movie franchises tend to go in threes these days.  Then they look to re-boot (Spider-Man, X-Men, even Batman).  Because of the timelessness of the characters, you can't have the same actors playing the same roles forever.  Look at James Bond. After the next Batman, they'll probably look to someone else for all the roles.  I don't think Christian Bale will want to or be able to continue as Batman.  I would think for the next movie, and even the eventual one after, Joker won't be appearing.  Just as he doesn't appear in the comics all the time either.  Batman has a great rogues gallery.  The question should be, who should be the next villain.  Where as there are some pretty cool ones, some won't translate well without looking too cheesey.

The Joker is too important of a character to be thrown away.  I say Depp because he would respect Ledger's performance but also do a hell of a job.  Daniel Day-Lewis also popped into my head, but he is too old now to do it.  He would drink one milkshake though.

Ryan Gosling or a young Michael Keaton, he was practically the new joker in beetle juice.

Nobody should play the Joke anymore.  Leave it as the historical masterpiece Heath Ledger left it.

Johnny Depp seems to be the best choice.

I feel bad for the next guy who has to play the joker. That will be hard to live up too.

I don't think we'll be seeing a movie with a joker in in for a while. Though Johnny Deep would do a good job.

I always loved the idea of Mark Hamil doing a Live-action Joker. I mean, he's definetly got the voice for it.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt if he could pull it off for the looks. I do agree with some people though that Johnny Depp could be a good Joker. I wonder what his laugh would sound like though... lol

Zombie Heath Ledger, Corpse-Puppet Heath Ledger, or Johnny Depp playing heath ledger's ghost playing the Joker.

No one should replace Heath Ledger; it'll be a disservice to the character that he built up and how he interpreted the character of The Joker for the big screen.
I'll be really disappointed if the end up replacing him...

Mr. Freeze would be a good villain for the next Batman.

Adrian Brody had expressed interest in the role before Ledger finally took it. i'm interested to see his version of Joker.

if they use him in the next few movies then I guess Johnny Depp would be my choice since he has proven he can do any role given to him and I think he could imitate Heath's legendary performance quite well
